My daughter was denied
I am sitting here at work in tears because I just got a call from Hurley saying my daughter was denied by insurance saying 'she did not show a 2 year history of obesity'. OMG, she has had a BMI over 40 since 2007!!!
I am sick to my stomach. I had to call her and tell her and of course she was crying. It's hard to explain to her that we just have to be patient and I will of course file an appeal. Our doctore is going to write a letter and is even willing to do a peer to peer if necessary. She has documented weights of a BMI of over 40 in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. I just don't get it!
I pray to God she is approved in the appeal process. Sorry, just needed to vent and cry.

I'm so sorry. It is such a hard thing to go through.
If you can disprove their objection, she should be approved on appeal.
I was denied at first and I talked to the insurance company. It seemed like their customer rep was almost anxious for me to appeal. At any rate, it went through smoothly and I was approved fairly quickly.

Thanks Sandi for the encouraging words. We have her appeal letter all typed up and ready to go. You are right, it is such a hard thing to go through.
I think we will easily be able to disprove their objection she does have documented wwights for 4 years and they are only asking for 2 years. So I am continuing to pray and pray more that she will get approved with the appeal process. I know when I was denied the first time the appeal process was very quick and it did work out okay for me.
I'm beginning to think it's true that most insurance deny automatically to see how many will come back through appeal.
I just want the letter to come quick now on her denial so we have the paperwork to file the appeal. I may call them tomorrow and aske them to fax it to me.

Thanks Jan. I know I had to appeal mine too and was approved within 4 days after I appealled. A friend of mine who just had it in January had to appeal hers and she was approved within 2 weeks of submitting her appeal. So in my mind I know this is all part of the process its just that my heart aches for her right now. She is so devastated but I just got off the phone with her and told her the same thing....to Keep the Faith and keep praying that she gets approved through the appeal process. Tomorrow she goes for her psych eval. and I told her to just keep her chin up, this is only a delay in the process.
