Looking for members 2,3,4 or more years out
I posted this on the main board but so people do go there so I thought I would try it here also!
I have gained 60+lbs in the last year, I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? I will be seeing my nut next monday to see if I broke my tool. I am trying to see if anyone has gained and lost and to see how you did it.
thanks in advance
marie
I am in a frustrating spot where I am gaining weight now too. I don't think your tool is broke, you just have to use it. The thing is our pouches WILL stretch back out, maybe not to the original size but larger than immediately post-op. Our malabsorption will also ALWAYS be there!
My weight gain is because of my training, or at least I am having an impossible time dropping the weight due to the caloric needs of my schedule right now (I burn 2500-4500 calories a day in exercise alone). When I'm done with my big race in June I plan on cutting WAY back and dropping some of that weight

I am nearly 6 years out and have regained about 20 pounds. A lot of it is from inability to exercise because of a bad knee (a knee replacement followed by a revision on the same knee in two years). My knee still hurts a lot. Plus now I'm unemployed, so I'm depressed over that. But I plug away and am determined not to gain more and lose what I have gained. I started using my bariatric center's protein supplements/meals twice a day and having one real meal so I can get this under the control. Let me tell you, it's hard. If this doesn't work, I may do the protein meals for the whole day for two weeks. I have to get the 20 pounds off.
2+ years out, and haven't gained. As a matter of fact, I work hard to keep my weight steady, as the plastic surgeon I want to use and the procedures I would like done will require some "extra" to move into different places, and I am lower in weight / body fat than would be ideal.
Of course, I had the DS, and regain can happen, but not often and certainly not more than a 10-20 pound bounce being the norm.
Good luck in tackling this. If it is a mechanical failure of your RnY, and not something you can simply adjust with dietary / exercise changes, consider consulting with a revision surgeon that offers all of the WLS options, so all of your choices can be laid out and the best course of action determined.

Highest Known Weight = 370# / 59.7 bmi @ 5'6"
Current Weight = 168# / 26.4 bmi : fluctuates 5# either way @ 5'7" / more than 90% EWL
Normal BMI (24.9) = 159#: would have to compromise my muscle mass to get here without plastics, so this is not a goal.
I my DS. Don't go into WLS without knowing ALL of your options: DSFacts.com
