Did you check with Aetna first to see if they will cover WLS? My friend, Shelly, worked for Dow Corning and is now retired, and Dow had a rider that stated no coverage for WLS. It wasn't the insurance company itself, it was the employing company (the carrier of the policy) that denied WLS. Shelly knew of other's that were covered, but I guess they slipped through the cracks. Shelly wasn't so lucky, she ended up self paying.
Prayers going up for your daughters swift approval. We all know how annoying that wait can be! Hope you send the paperwork registered so they can't use non-delivery as an excuse for a long wait. :)

Jan - I remember Shelly talking about that at the support group meeting! Dow Corning and Dow Chemical are two separate companies and I work for Dow Chemical. I do have a couple of friends who work at Corning and you're right, they have an exclusion to WLS. Thank goodness Dow Chemical doesn't!
Aetna approved my surgery in like three days! They were great and I had no complaints so I'm hoping my daughter's is a smooth approval! I dropped all her paperwork off this morning to Hurley at my 1 yeaar check-up.

Prayers for her ! I had Aetna when I got mine 7 years ago, they were great. I still have Aetna and I know that for our company they do still cover it !
Also, my SIL went down to Hurley last week for one of there talks on getting the Sleeve, she is from Bay CIty. She is hoping to get it in June or July. She is scheduled for her 3 or 4 hour testing down there during spring break.

Sally - I also had no trouble with Aetna at all. I was denied at first because Hurley turned in my paperwork too soon, before I was done with the 3 month Multidisciplinary program. I was so mad at the time. But I just finished the program and then sent in an appeal myself and was approved within 4 days.
Good luck to you SIL!! It's such a long process, or at least it seems like it is at the time, but now, looking back, it is all worth the time spent going through the approval process.
