I don't know if I ever told you guys this:
When Nick was born, my mom and grandma (who are Catholic-I'm not) tried to convince me to get him baptized right away because he was so sick we weren't sure of his life expectancy.  I refused, believing that it wasn't necessary.  One day, when he was about 2 months old and just out of the hospital, my mom, who's boyfriend at the time was our neighborhood barber, arranged for Father Ray from St. Mary's to meet them at the barber shop.  They baptized him in the sink of the shop and never told me until he was like 5 years old!  I could have been mad, but I just let it go....have to choose my battles, I guess.

Speaking of baskets, my DH's family, who are Russian Orthodox, do the whole basket blessing thing as well.  They put bacon, eggs, butter in the shape of a lamb, and even their salt for the meal in the basket to be blessed.  Then they make blood sausage and some weird cheese thing and other gross stuff that we have to eat LOL

Brenda, at the time my oldest son was born I was still going to the Catholic Church.  When he was a day old, and weighing in at 2#5oz my Mom, who was a Neo=natal Intensive care nurse, baptized him with me there, with a bottle of sterile water.  I guess they did it all the time in the nursery if the mothers wanted, and if the situation warranted it.  So, Blair was baptized in the hospital, but then we had the regular baptism at the church but they didn't pour the water over him again.  Just the annointing with the oil.
My husbands grandparents were Russian Orthodox and did the same with the baskets.  I thought it was pretty cool actually.  The cheese thing was probably head cheese and I've learned to like it if it's made with garlic.  I've never had the blood sausage tho.  We belong to a club in Howell on Lake Chemung which was founded by the Russian Immigrants from the detroit area.

It is what it is.

Sounds interesting.  I don't think I've ever come across it within the family or the club for that matter.  I wonder if your In-laws knew of my husbands family.  See PM

When My son was born I went to the Catholic church ( regular) and since DH and I were just living together they refused to Baptize him cause I was living in sin. LOL

So I went to the Greek Orthodox Catholic Church and The priest said no problem. And they did the whole Ceremony. But I had to ware a Dolli on my head. Because they still do that.

so get this if I don't need a Dolli on my head I cant get my born out of wedlock kid baptized but if I do go to a church and put a Dolli on my head I my born out of wedlock kid can get all the sacraments. Go figure.

My daughter Julie was Baptized in the Hospital under dourest too. She had spinal meningitis.
The priest from the Greek Orthodox church came and baptized her and confirmed her and left the  officiating on a paper towel on the bed side table.

I guess it is all about faith.
And I have faith in the Lord. However not much in the religious politics.

Good morning! Had my coffee earlier and some protein.  Now I'm having a blueberry bagel with cream cheese.  Dub just went down for his nap, so I am going to get ready to run to the store when he wakes up.  Need cleaning supplies.....yeah, I have good intentions.

QOTD:  I haven't really had time to sit down and watch the Olympics, yet.  All I know, is that Biggest Loser isn't on again until after the Olympics.  LOL!   I don't really have any favorite winter sports to watch, but I do enjoy watching things like the Bobsled, Luge, Curling, ski jump....but I don't make a point of sitting down to watch them.

Good Morning,

I have finished my cinnamon coca made with BSN Dessert Fresh Cinnamon Roll protein and Swiss Miss hot chocolate.  Today I mixed a little bit of coffee in, but coffee makes me jittery so I usually just avoid it.  I am contemplating what to eat for 'breakfast'.  I'm going to look up the stats on half an english muffing and peanut butter.

It seems the last few days I've been able to eat more and that sort of worries me.

QOTD - I like all sports but for some reason I haven't been watching the Olympics.  I just haven't been interested.  Must be I have too much on my mind lately to enjoy them.  I do manage to watch the Pistons every game though!

Hey everyone!  I am back after having my surgery and hunkering down for a few days.  Feeling much better today, probably my best day yet.

QOTD:  I like the snowboarding a lot, especially when they do that "race" thing when about 3-4 boarders go down at the same time.  I watched it for the first time this past week and it makes me want to try snowboarding  - except that I am a totaly klutz and would probably seriously hurt myself.

I shot this birdie in the tree
He was about 20 feet up in the tree.
He was watchin for wabbits.
Then he flew after one and was gone.

 The Hawk!

went to my 3 month check up Dr. C seems to think all is well but I on the other hand think I could be losing much faster. Dr. C felt I was losing slower because I lost so much weight prior to surgery. He said If I lose another 40 lbs I will be good to go. But I don't think that will be enough. I want my BMI to be 24 not 34.
So I have to punish my self. I am grounding my self . If I don't do 1 hr of sweating type exercise per day I won't be allowed to play on the computer.

So I have to go do my chores at the gym then I will be back to see you all later.
