Good Morning everyone.
Hope your morning is off to a good start. What's brewing this morning? Decaf and black in a few minutes for me...
It's Ash Wednesday and time to begin the Lenten season. May be giving up my favorite sin-peanut butter.....
Fun watching the Olympics this past week. Creates a selection dilemma-what to watch..
QOTD-What is your favorite Olympic sport for the winter games? I love the figure skating. The men's program is so great. Can't wait for the pairs and ladies....
Time to get off to the shower.

My youngest daughter and her boyfriend just moved into an appt. I am going over to visit today.  I am also going to my oldest daughters to take her grocery shopping.  They do not have a second car and her boyfriend works crazy mad hours.  We are going to have a some girl time.  It will be nice for me because it's hard to get the kids together.

QOTD:  I don'****ch the Olympics.  I have never enjoyed watching them.  I do however admire their skill and dedication.

Good Morning !

Black Coffee !  More Black Coffee !
Well, so much more comfy this morning with no stitches or drains !  But I still itch, thank goodness for Benedryl.  I do have a little infection so the dr ordered me antiobiotics that only come in capsules.  I am an RNY patient so they won't dissolve properly.  My DH had picked them up for me so when he got home we called back to the pharmacy, they don't come in tablets.  We asked if it was ok to break them open even though we knew they would probably taste horrible, sure, he says, but they will be bitter so put it in applesauce to take.  So last night with no applesauce in the house i tried to put it in the center of a glob of peanut butter (it works for the dogs), well it was ok, but I still got a taste of it, yuck!  DH is off to the store already this morning to buy me some applesauce and also yogurt since this medicine is known for causing yeast infections, so I will be pro active and counter act that, don't want any problems since we leave for Floriday tomorrow afternoon for the weekend ! (SUN< please come out in Florida for me  )

QOTD - I don't think I have a favorite in the winter games, I really enjoy watching most any of them, yes even curling.  (watched some of that in the Dr's office yesterda)

Have a safe day !

try putting your meds in between some keylime pie yogurt. the lime takes away the bitter taste.

some have used jellow and sugar free cool whip too.

Thanks, probably will try that, 15 days of applesauce 4 x a day will get boring.  I tried jello yesterday, not good, peanut butter was better, applesauce good !  I will also try the yougurt !  Thanks.

Good Morning Deb and everyone!

I'm at work, trying to make it through the day.  Gonna be a long one, I think.

QOTD-Don't really care about the Olympics too much.  I had the men's figure skating on last night, but that's just because I was flipping channels and saw the guy from Russia and he had funny hair, so I stopped to watch.

I'm curious-for those of you that do observe Lent, do you eat meat on Friday?  I remember as a kid my grandma always took us out for fish and chips on Friday and I never knew why.  I was just a fat kid that loved fried food, so I was happy!

Hope you all have a great day!

In the old school Catholics did not eat meat on Fridays as an act of fasting.

but over the years it has come down to no meat on
Good Friday only.  and children under 12 are aloud meat as our senior citizens. Or if your on a specialized diet. (medical).

Some segments of the Catholics ( like Greek Orthodox) still practice the no meat on Friday ritual.
We don't eat meat on Good Friday and  take our Baskets to be blessed  on Saturday , and Feast on Sunday.

Baskets to get blessed, with a slice of ham, potatoe salad, Deviled eggs, colored Easter eggs, and bread with the lamb shaped butter. covered with our Hand made embroidered kitchen towels.  Taken to the church during a special mass to bless the meal.

QOTD: Not aware of the Olympics.

Ruby is going to be on TV Friday on Wendy show

Good morning

Had a Vanilla Protein Tea on the drive in this morning and having some coffee right now - which is not sitting well in my tummy, so not sure how much of it I'll actually drink.

I've got a test tonight in Art History and I'm SO not ready.  I've got my flashcards with me today and I'll be studying throughout the day as best I can.  Didn't sleep well again last night - I was awake from about 3:00am until 5:30am and of course I doze off just 30 minutes before my alarm goes off.  Grrr...

QOTD -- I used to love figure skating too and I watched a couple of the men's routines late last night.  But I think I'm more interested in the snowboarders this year.  I wish I had more time to watch the competition - but I seem to be only catching highlights and replays after the events are already done.

Good morning everyone!

I just finished some SF Cran-Grape and a big mug of SF Vanilla Caremel coffee.  I have been on a coffee kick lately and I think I need to stop.  I drink regular not decaf and I'm noticing I'm drinking more than just a cup (which my mug is 20 oz) a day!

QOTD - I haven't been watching much of the Olympics but I do enjoy watching the figure skating.

Brenda - I was raised Catholic and yes, we had to give up meat for lent.  I don't do it now as an adult, but I remember as a kid my mom would not cook meat on Friday's during lent.  We had a lot of Salmon patties :-)  And we used to go to the K of C for their Friday night fish fry's - Yummy!!   I don't give anything up for lent as an adult.

Have a good day everyone!

Protein chai tea this morning for me.  I'm thinking next time I make it I'll cut down on the splenda.  It seems really sweet to me today.
Since I'm no longer a practicing catholic I don't give up anything for lent, but do do soul searching during this time and try to correct some minor faults I have.  I do eat meat on Friday's now.  Too many of the catholic rules are man made and are changing all the time.  Did you know that there is no such thing as original sin anymore?  I had a nun tell me that when my sil wanted to have her down syndrome baby baptized in the church.  She didn't belong to a church, so I called mine.  Sister told me that if she didn't belong to the church she couldn't be baptized in it.  Baptism is bringing the child into the church of God and since my SIL didn't belong, the baby couldn't either.  That was the start of my downward spiral from the catholic religion and onward to finding something new for me.  We found a great Christian church (affiliated with Weslyan) that has a wonderful wonderful wonderful knowledgeable pastor, who is a real person.  The church family is much more like a family than anything I ever experienced in the Catholic church.  I grew up going to the Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak and listening to Fr. Charles Coughlin.  I even read about him in my history book in high school. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=XRl&ei=B_17S6-QF4v-NbC-ubIF&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&ved=0CAgQBSgA&q=Fr.+Charles+Coughlin&spell=1 (check him out)  Needless to say, it was a strict catholic parish and they put the fear of God into us.  Now I have the love of / for God in me.  To each their own and hopefully everyone finds something that works for them.
Whew, that was long.  I'll get off my soap box now.
Hope everyone has a blessed and safe day.
