Good Morning All,

Took the boys to the show yesterday.  We seen the Tooth Fairy.  It was better than expected but I still did not enjoy myself.  It was not because of the show, it was because of the popcorn.  I have done very good in my almost 7 months.  I have not eaten any candy, chips and the only cookies I have eaten were at Christmas time and they were homemade once a year cookie.  I have found out that I can eat movie popcorn without any side affects,Not that I want side affects. I have come to believe that I can not buy popcorn for the kids when I go to the show with them.  This makes me sad that I have not mastered this yet.  I have done this a few times and yesterday was the worse. This leads me to the QOTD.

QOTD:  What food was the first food that you found you had a hard time with as far as self control after WLS?  and how far out were you?  Is it still a problem for you?

Hi Cheryl and everyone!
Back to normal this morning. No closings, so it's back to be with the students this morning. Spent yesterday with the grandson, Colin. Such a little gentleman...
QOTD-Still have problem with chocolate. No dumping with the band, so sweets go down so easy around it.. Really have to stop myself sometime..
Well, time to get moving..

Good Morning !

What a great day it is!  I got 4 of 5 drains removed yesterday, woohoo ! ! !  I walked out of there like I had lost fifteen pounds.  It felt so good afterwards.   I slept wonderfully last night.  I am drinking my strong black coffee today then onto protein and work *sigh*.

QOTD - It has been so long since my surgery, I can't tell you, not that I don't want to but I really don't remember.  Amazingly Chocolate does cause me to dump and I rarely eat any, if I do it is a small piece of "GOOD" dark chocolate.

Have a warm, safe day !

Morning Cheryl and everyone,
I'm at work, drinking some tea.  I'm hoping to stay motivated and get some stuff done today.

Cheryl, don't beat yourself up over the popcorn.  It happened, and if you learn from it, then it's ok.  Do a little extra activity today and you'll be alright.  I think popcorn was my first "red light" food as well.  It goes down so easily.....a real "slider" food.  Also, there is really no good substitute if it's around you.  Microwave low cal just doesn't compare to movie theater.  I'm learning to put foods in to Always, Sometimes, and Rarely categories.  Popcorn is in the Rarely list.  If I go to the movies 3 times a year and have popcorn, that won't kill me.  I get a small and don't share with anyone so I can see exactly how much I've eaten.  It's easy to get a large and then blame the person I'm with for eating most of it.

Hope you all have a good day!

Hi all -

Back to work today after yesterday's snow day.  It was nice to have the day off and get stuff done around the house and even take a nap.  I had one of Kristy's Vanilla Caramel Protein Tea's on the way to work this morning.

The new drugs are making me feel nauseated and a bit jittery.  Apparently both expected side effects.  The yucky tummy is suppose to go away after a week or so... but there was a moment in the car this morning where I was frantically searching for something to puke into.  Thankfully the feeling passed.

Cheryl - the theater popcorn thing was a struggle for me at first too.  But if you order a child's size order (which is about 2 cups of popcorn) and skip the extra butter, that should satisfy the craving without doing much damage.  Popcorn is packed with fiber and is fairly low calorie.  I always order a popcorn when I see a movie.

QOTD -- For me it was chips and salsa.  Even when I would do the baked tortilla chips that were "healthier" -- I'd still abuse it.  And I'd never buy chips unless I first bought salsa.  So I had to put a ban on salsa.  That's the one food I'm no longer allowed to buy.  Granted, it's only the fresh salsa that is banned for me because I'm a salsa snob and don't like the jarred stuff.  So when I do my southwest chicken recipe I can safely buy a jar of salsa and not be tempted to buy chips because that salsa is just nasty.

Good Morning Cheryl, and all who follow.

Julie and I went to get our hair cut. I really like the way the girl did it. I ll post a pix later. Then we went to eat at TX Road House. We had coupons. I had the shrimp meal with salad and apple sauce. It comes with rice but I told the girl I was not able to eat rice and she let me substitute with an extra side dish. So I got a cup of chili. but, I could not eat. and I gave 1/2 my shrimp (grilled) to Julie so she could eat them with here chicken.  DH laughed at us, (when we had our nightly phone chat) cause we went to a steak house and had chicken and shrimp. No stake.

QOTD: Potato Chips not just any it has to be "BETTER MADE". oh Yes I am I am a Michigan girl.
and been craving  Verners Ginger Ale too.  But I made sure that I only bought a single (lunch) size bag. But for some reason I crave the salt. I was 4 weeks out. I still have my moments or taste for them but not like before. I had a bag in the cabinet for a month and I think about it then move on. I personally feel it it better to have a small amount of a craved food and satisfy it then to starve it and let it manifest in to a monster of a problem.

Good morning everyone!

Cheryl - don't beat yourself up over the popcorn.  If you treat yourself to it once in a while it's not going to kill you.  I eat a lot of popcorn and I have to say I'm sure it's not any better for me than the movie popcorn because when Steve makes it for me he uses bacon grease as the oil!!  I have it every weekend.  I know it's not the best choice for me but I make sure and build it in to my daily (or weekly) eating stats and allow myself the treat.

QOTD:  I guess the food that I have a hard time with is potato chips or chips of any kind.  Pre surgery I was a sugaraholic.  I could easily eat a box of LIttle Debbie snack cakes in one sitting.  Since surgery, I haven't had anything sweet like cakes, cookies or candy because I am afraid of dumping but I crave salty, snacky types of foods.  I have a hard time when chips are in the house.  Just Monday I came home from work and before I took off my coat I had the bag of Frito's opened and was eating right out of the bag!  I ended up throwing those and a bag of pretzels away that night because I knew I did not have any self control over eating them.

I allow myself movie popcorn, but I don't go to the movies very often at all.

QOTD:  Lays Potato Chips - then 2nd, chips of any kind.  Lucky for me Fritos will upset my pouch if I eat too many... Probably started eating them 4 months out or so... at first I was able to control my portions very well - I'd measure out how many a serving size was and that's all I would eat - and log it into thedailyplate.com.  As time went on, I'd just dump some in a bowl, then I'd just eat out of the bag.... the latest splurge was some tortilla chips - yummy and salty.  I've always been a chip/salt person, and unfortunately for me, they slide down real easy....

Hi Cheryl,

Even though the weather was icky yesterday I still had to go into work. I watched the news in the morning and they said to triple your drive time, well I did and ended up at work  at 6:40 am instead of 7:15 am, oh well I accomplished a lot..............including answering the phone for my coworkers who were calling in :(

QOTD: I have recently had my surgery so I am in the beginning  stages.
