Hair Loss
Thanks guys, I know I can count on you.

My PCP said that if you are genetically pre-determined to have hair loss as you get older, then the surgery will probably jump start that process. She asked about family members having thinning hair, and said if they have it, I probably have it. I would have had hair loss, but the surgery kicked it in to high gear and is probably irreversible.
Now, my first surgeon's office concurred, and said it is a side effect of anesthesia and the shock to your body.
Bottom line, you can't tell what's going to happen. Just like the weight loss, it's different for everyone. You can ask 19 different people and get as many different answers.
Your hair loss didn't start until 6 months out? Mmm.... you're totally off schedule. It should have started around 3-4 months, then last for 3-4 months and stop. Then 3-4 months later (around 9 months post op) you start noticing new spikes of hair growth. So maybe you're just a couple months behind and things will just proceed from here?
Biotin won't help stop the hair loss at all. It's only good for making the new hair grow back healthy and strong. Plus it helps with ALL hair growth, I stopped taking it because I was tired of going through razors so far.
Here's some info on why we lose hair post-op

As many of you know I had cancer a few years ago.....one of the few "weird" things about cancer is that when your hair grows back, it comes back curly (to most of us). Well believe it or not once my hair started coming back after gbs, it came back curly (almost as bad as after cancer).....is that because of my history of cancer (even though I was well over 4 years post chemo), no one knows, not allot of us us had chemo and gbs within 4 years :). Today, 27 months post gbs, my hair is still slightly curly. I actually had a friend described it as " TV anchor hair", a compliment to me!, at least I'll take it.
So who knows, I'll be interested in what other people have to say.
BTW I've taken Biotin, and sub lingual B complex and B-12 religiously since surgery, and have always gotten in my protein goals since surgery.

I've lost all my personal information on my health tracker, what's up with that? I am so bummed, it had my measurements and weight from day 1. Does anyone know a way I can retrieve it?
