Morning all,

Wow I get to start the thread 2 days in a row.  I promise no controversy today!

Just finished my coffee, next up breakfast and I have no idea what I want this morning, so I'll write to all you great folks instead!

Q:  Have we seen all the commercials for the Superbowl already???  I've watched GMA, The Today Show, Fox News.....and all of them are previewing all the commercials....guess I don't have to watch the game now!  It's like when they preview movies, they end up showing all the good parts.....some times you don't even need to see the movie, you've already see enough of it on the previews.  I guess I'm not really asking a question, just *****ing!  What's your opinion?

Stay warm,

Edie

I almost posted a joke in your post yesterday.  It involved GUNS and Politics.  LOL!  But I figured the debate on gun ownership was enough excitement for one day.

Been up since about 6:30.  Dub woke up early because he was snuggled up in the corner of his crib and kept setting the alarm off on the motion sensor monitor.  Of course, I had to check on him and one of the times I was in there, he woke up and spied me.  That was the end of that!  So we got up.  I made some scrambled eggs and toast and we shared my breakfast.  He's an eater....worries me....I hope I can instill healthy eating habits in him!

QOTD:  I noticed that over the past couple days, I've seen A LOT of SB commercials.  Used to be they were "secret".  I don't know about viewership on the SB, but maybe the numbers have gone down so they are trying to spur some interest.  My niece, in Poland, doesn't get to watch it until midnight because of the time difference, but she's desparate for anything AMERICAN.  I always tell her...COME HOME, THEN!!

Yea, I felt sorry for Deb.  I hope she read my response to her.

I love the fact that Dub has a motion sensor, is it for SID's???  You should get one of those camera's tha****ch the crib, then you wouldn't have to sneek in and potentially get caught.

Why is your neice in Poland??  Does she get to see the SB on TV or the internet?

Gun ownership is always a passionate subject and rightfully so, especially for someone in Deb's position with her husband being a police officer.

The motion sensor is for SIDs.  While the chances of SIDS drops exponentially after 6 months, we still use it.  I have a video monitor on his bed, too.  I can hear him and see him.  But when he's curled up in the corner of his bed like that, it's hard to detect any movement, looking at the monitor.  The alarm beeps once and then if there's no movement for 5 more seconds, it goes off continuously.  However, usually the first beep is enough to stir them to move a little.  But twice, this AM, it didn't and the alarm went off.  If he moves, the alarm stops and that is usually the case. Not this AM.  he was sleeping soundly in the corner, so it wasn't picking up his breathing movements.  So, the 2nd time I went in, he caught me.  LOL!  It was only about a 1/2 hour before his normal wake up time, anyway and he's already had a 2 hour nap this AM.

Still in my jammies with a sweatshirt on, out in the (heated) garage, on my hubby's computer.
DEB:  TELL YOUR HUSBAND THANK YOU FROM ME, FOR PUTTING HIS LIFE ON THE LINE ON A DAILY BASIS.  I APPRECIATE ALL OF OUR OFFICERS, FIREFIGHTERS AND SERVICE MEN AND PRAY FOR THEM DAILY.
You really opened a can of worms yesterday Edie, but an interesting one.

Q:  I haven't really seen the SB commercials.  I guess I'm living in a bubble these days, or just not paying attention.

The sun is beautiful today, but the thermometer says stay inside.  Too cold to be out walking the pups.  I'm going to make enchiladas for dinner today.  The turkey breast I did day before yesterday in the crockpot was wonderful.  I will definately do that again, and it's so easy.  I don't remember if I posted it or not, but you just take a 6# turkey breast, rub the outside and under the skin with a packet of lipton onion soup mix and throw it in the crock pot on high for an hour then down to low for 7 hours.  We absolutely loved it.  For dinner yesterday I made a gravy and we had it over rice.  YUMMY
I had protein coffee for breakfast and will probably have a shake for lunch so I can use up some calories on the enchiladas.
Hope everyone has a grand SuperBowl Sunday.

 Good morning all...

Just having some lunch and taking a wee break.  I've been plugging away at school work all morning and I feel like I haven't made a dent in it yet.  I'm meeting some gals from the support group this afternoon for a Goodwill Shopping Trip, then back to school work this evening.

QOTD -- I haven't had the TV on in days and days.  I watched Grey's and Private Practice Thursday night, but otherwise the TV has been silent.  SO I haven't seen the commercials yet.  Probably won't have the TV on tonight for the game either -- I'll see them eventually since they're always on for weeks afterward. Or I'll just catch 'em on YouTube

Good afternoon everyone,

This morning I had a protein hot chocolate and later a couple bites of the scrambled eggs I made for my husband.

I sure enjoy it when the sun is shining like it is today!  I know it's still cold outside but it's nice looking out from the inside.

I had an issue a few days ago where I dumped on oatmeal.  I have had it many times before without a problem but not that day.  It could be that I had already had some protein before the oatmeal on the other days.  I know I didn't have anything with it when I had the problem.

That little incident seemed to set me back for a couple days, but now all is back to normal.  I'm kind of afraid to eat any carbs though.  I haven't attempted anything like a salad.

QOTD I do like the super bowl commercials usually.  I thought last year they were kind of lame.  I haven't seen any of them yet this year and I prefer that.

I'm over 2 years out and still couldn't handle a bowl of oatmeal without some sort of protein in it.  I can have allot of carbs compared to others, but there's no way I could eat a whole piece of pie for example w/o dumping.  Next time try some protein with it.

HTH,

Hello Michiganders !

Aren't we glad we aren't in the Washington DC area.  I think they have had more snow this year the we have, at least when it comes to the actual snow storms, I know we have had snow and it has been 6 inches or less most times.  I can't remember the last time we had over a foot, wait I think we did once back in December.

I am moving slowly, my surgery went well.  I love my recliner and my DH.  He is such a good nurse!  He won't even sleep in the bedroom with me in the livingroom, he sleeps on the Sofa, such a sweetheart.  My arms haven't been painful at all, it has been the stomach, with them having to do the muscle, that really makes it tough for moving for the first day.  I feel like an octupus, I have 5 drains, one from each arm and 3 on the panni line.  They to 5.4 lbs off of my stomach and 1.6 lbs off of each arm.  From what I can see it my arms look great !  My Hips look big, oops, that would be because I can see a waist.  Of course it doesn't look the best yet but I am sure it will be great, anything without the hanging panni will be great.  I go back to the Doctor on Wednesday afternoon for him to remove some of the drains and check me over.

QOTD:  I haven't seen many of the commercials yet, will watch them tonight if I stay awake for them, if I don't I'll check them online.  I agree about movies, I really get upset when I see the best parts on the commercials then go to the movies and they are actually duds cuz nothing else is any better. *sigh*

Enjoy the SB and eat safe!

I hate when they do that with movies.....

I loved my lay z boy after every surgery, makes life sooooo much easier.   My hubby has a bad back, so he deserted me every night.  But when I had my mastectomies a few years, make that many years back (yea), I had a friend who is a nurse stay with me for a week and she stayed on the couch with me to make sure my drains were working properly, what a great friend :).

Glad to hear the bat wings aren't that bad, I've heard they are a painful one to get over.  Good luck in your healing process.

Edie
