New and approved
Well the post is new anyway I got approved and I now have a date March 3rd.. 11 days before my birthday. Happy Birthday to ME. I keep bounceing from being very happy to stressed that I don't have enough time to prepare to I want this to be tomorrow. I guess that is normal. Right now I am excited. LOL.
Congrats on getting your date! It will be here before you know it. And yes your emotions will be all over that place.... soooo normal.
As far as what you should have in your home. First and foremost, protein powder, my doc's had a protein shake that we bought from them, does your doc have anything like that? If not make sure you have a good whey protein, proteins like Carnation Instant breakfast are not adequate for you after surgery. Allot of people will tell you not to stock up to much on different protein powders because your tastes will change post op....mine did not, but yours may.
For the first stage you should have jello, yogurt, broth and of course protein shakes. After a few weeks things like re fried beans, scrambled eggs, chili.....WELL chewed, but your doc will tell you when your ready to advance to that stage and that varies immensely from doc to doc. I was on solid liquids (if that's a word) for 3 weeks. I've read that some people can go to the softer foods after one week, so listen to your doc and nut for directions there.
Feel free to ask any more questions you have,
Edie

I can appreciate and remember the excitement of getting the date. Then the countdown. I researched and hemed and hawed for a year and a half before actually doing something, so I was totally sure of my decision. I had no second thoughts nor nervousness. I'm more nervous going to the dentist than I was the day of my surgery. I was the same on my wedding day. I guess I just knew it was the right thing to be doing.
Edie said it best, soft foods, sugarfree popcicles, yogurt (carbmaster from Kroger is good because it's got more protein in it than others) broth. The chicken broth was my comfort food and really tasted good. You'll find you can hardly drink a mouthful at a time so make sure to sip often. When you're a few months out you can take a few swallows at a time.
Things will fall into place once you're on this high road!
