Aren't we glad we don't live on the East coast!

Morning all,

Wow the East coast is getting hammered....so glad it missed us, maybe my car will stay clean for a few days!

Just finished my morning java then on to toast w/ pb!

Today itinerary is to clean the house, then we're going to the firing range, I haven't practiced my shooting in a few months.  I have a cute little ladies Smith and Wesson.  I also have a concealed permit, so I like to practice every month or so.  So I guess talking about that it will be my Q of the day.

Q:  What's your opinion of guns?????  Mine is...if the bad guys have them, I should too!  That's why I took lessons and practice all the time.  IMO, if you have one, you should know how to use it and be responsible about it!

Have a great day all,

Edie

Morning,

I am so glad we did not get that snow.  WOW.  What a nightmere.  Today I am taking my oldest son to the mall to buy a few things.  He is a big football fan so I am sure we will be in all of those stores.  I am going to they gym in a few minutes.

QOTD:  My husband was in the Navy and classified as a snipper.  He taught my 3 oldest to shoot and myself.  I have not done it in years. I would like to start up again.  He even blind folded me one time and made me put the gun together.  Once I even shot through the same hole twice.  Pure accident I am sure.  I am not skilled, but I do enjoy it.

Do you go to an indoor range?

I'm impressed.... you put a gun back together blind folded, and shot through the same hole twice, I bow to you!

We belong to the Oakland County Sportsman Club.  It's in Clarkston.  My brother in law belongs to a Sportsman club in Rochester (I think it's Rochester, it's on Dequindre, near Avon, by Yates Cider Mill).  I'm sure they have one in your neck of the woods if your interested.  What I like about ours is they have allot of activities for kids.  They are really into teaching and safety for the kids that shoot.  That's actually where I got my CCW permit.   They have an indoor handgun range and a few outdoor ranges for rifle, shotgun and archery.

Hi Edie and everyone.
Surprised to see sunshine this morning. It's nice, but then I see all the dust bunnies I have in my house. Time to clean.
We do need some "fresh" snow and I guess we're due for some early next week.
QOTD-I feel we have a need for tighter gun controls. There are a lot of responsible gun owners, but then there are the irresponsible ones that have guns and those are the ones that cause tradgedy due to stupidity. In countries, like Canada, where there are tighter gun laws, the homicide rate is much much lower than ours My husband is a police officer for over thirty years and has never had to use his gun once. It's too bad that he has to carry one plus wear a bullet proof vest to work everyday because he may come across a stupid with a gun. I really don't want to become a widow over a bullet. I get a little emotional over this....
Have a great day.

I am not faulting your concerns here, just your source of information. Where in the world did you get the idea that murder rates are lower in gun control countries or that crime is lower? The statistics from the FBI and Interpol do not reflect this. The fact that in 30 years your husband has never had to use a gun once reflects how wrong this is. Ask the wife of any police officer in Mexico where all private gun ownership is illegal and only the criminal own guns. While many may claim that their illegal guns come from the US, by the ATF's data of weapons origin searches the vast majority come from other nations smuggling them into Mexico, and less than 5% of them come from the US.  So even the excuse that our guns contribute to their problem is just not so.
I understand your concern, but I assure you that cops in Michigan are far safer that LA or NYC. There are plenty of CCW permit holders, like myself, who would never like to have to use a gun on another person, but would to aid or protect a cop. The present of people with a CCW, makes the criminal less brazen and lowers the dangers to a street cop.

Yay Nick.  They're now called CPL (Concealed Pistol License) rather than CCW.

Try to explain this to my husband's partner who got shot, almost fatally, 10 years ago when the only thing he did was knock on the door to deliver a subpeona........

When I lived in Florida around 1980something
They accidentally attached a law to a bill that allowed the Floridians to carry their weapon holstered as long as they were in plain site, not concealed,
The bill was reascended a week later.

When the police were asked how they felt about it they emphatically said they loved it cause now they new how had the guns.   And they were not guessing who had em.
