Hello everyone!
We've reached Hump Day-hoorah!
Time to celebrate with a cup of whatever wakes you up! Going for the decaf real soon.....
What happened with the Groundhog? More winter or early spring? Hope it's the later.
QOTD-Are you a serious or a funny Valentine? Got my Valentines cards and have a mix of both. Love the traditional Valentines with hearts and such.. Don't really celebrate it too much with DH..
Usually have something really low key like a nice dinner at home.
Time to get a move-on..
Have a good one!

Good Morning All !

Sitting here slowly moving having first cup of java and trying to get my head into my work.  It is my last day of work for this week.

QOTD - I love valentines day, I usually end up buying serious for my DH, our anniversary is the 8th so February is a great month for us.  My maiden name is Hart so I have always been attracted to Valentines day and I have lots of stuff with Hearts on it.  I have already gotten them for my grandkids, my daughter is getting married again in June and her future DH has a son that was just diagnosed with Type I diabetes so I have bought him and my daughters two boys non candy stuff for V-day.  I don't like to treat the kids differently so I have had to hunt down some stuff that they would enjoy.  My youngest grandson (sons son) is going to be 1 this month.  I love being Mema !  It will be a busy month for us, lots going on!

Well, better get my work done so I have a job still.

It's so hard for kids with type 1, they just don't understand the long term implications and always feel short changed.  I really hope they find a cure for all diabetes, but I think type 1 is so much harder.

Good luck to him,

Edie

Thanks, yes, it is not an easy thing.  He is going to be eleven this month and he has now been out of school for two weeks.  He currently has to have 8 shots a day and his mom has to wake him up in the middle of the night also for his shots.  He really did well in his training classes, according to his dad, the nutritionist was impressed with his ability to figure out his carbs and to be able to ask good questions and come up with great answers.  We are very proud of him but know there is a long road ahead of him.

I know he was just diagnosed, but have they thought about a pump yet?  One of my best friends is Type I.  She's also a nurse in a diabetes clinic.  She's had a pump since they first came out.  It's been the best thing for her.  My cousin is also Type I and he eventually went to the pump, too.  Both of them have had fewer issues since being on the pump.  Helps them to better regulate their insulin.  May be something they can look into for the future.

Yes, they did ask about it and were told that when he is around 15 he might be able to go to a pump.

That's good.  The people that I know with them seem to be doing so much better.  Really helps to regulate them.

Thanks, I will check it out but it is probably to soon for him to have anything like that until he gets everything under control.
