2 and 1/2 years and life is GREAT!!!

So I was reading one of Pam's posts and thinking about how little I post anymore on the Michigan board and realized that it's been 2 and 1/2 years since my surgery.  1 month ago I got engaged to the most amazing woman and our wedding date is August 14th - 3 years + 1 day from the day I took my life back.  This got me thinking about my life and how different it is.
For those of you struggling with the pre-op struggles of getting approved and scheduled stick with it, it's SOOOO worth it!  Just remember that your success is defined by YOU.  I've seen many people on the board cave in to old habits and not have the same success that I've been blessed with.  It hasn't always been easy, but it's been a blast and I can't imagine what my life would be like without it!

Something I tell me students:  "There's so much amazing stuff out there, we are only limited by that which we allow ourselves to be limited by."
So what's your unfulfilled desire?  Mine was to become active (I've completed 3 marathons, 2 half-ironman distance triathlons (70.3 miles) and will be participating in my first ironman triathlon in June).  The best surprise of all of this: meeting and dating my fiancee

Congratulations !  Keep the positive attitude and I'm glad you are passing that on to your students.  They need a positive influence in their lives and it sounds like you are the one for that job !

Good to see you back on here and Congratulations Sax!  you've been an inspiration to me in the past.  I'm doing my first 5K at the MI Meet n Greet in Holland in May.  I've even tried jogging during my walks with the dogs.  They're keeping me going.
Hope you and your fiance have a long and healthy marriage.

Great to hear about you doing the 5k!!!  They really are a blast to do, hopefully it's a good group there (haven't found one that isn't).
Where in Interlochen are you from?  Spent 7 summers up there, miss it dearly.  I may come up and do the Interlochen Triathlon on July 11 (haven't decide if we'll do that one or not.)

I live on Green Lake right across from the music camp.  I worked at the music camp during the summer of 1969 and absolutely loved it.  Back then even the office workers wore the knickers, knee socks and short sleeved blouses and vests.  It was great.  Never a question about what I was going to wear.  I got discounts on all the concerts and shows.  It was great.
I've thought about either volunteering at the camp/academy or at Munson Hospital.  Loving retirement up her!
Be sure to let me know if you're coming up.  Jody and I would come an meet you to cheer you on!
