Wow!  Talk about the inside scoop from an insurance gal!  Thanks so much for sharing.  I feel the same way - I am already a fanatic about taking vitamins, I won't mind adding some and staying on top of my levels. 

Again, thanks to everyone for helping me through this.

I guess if I could get any surgery I chose paid for by insurance I'd go running for the DS because it just seems like the rest of your life would be slightly easier, not having to worry about foods making you sick and the food malabsorption lasts a lifetime where RNY it only lasts 1-2 years but the vitamin malabsorption lasts forever.  That all being said a lot of people dont have the choice for a DS and I think I'm pretty much in that catagory. I think eventually I will find a way to get medicaid to help with the rny and I think both are good...but your eating/lifestyle will be different. I think the most important thing is being comfortable in your decision and understanding how you will need to eat etc to stay healthy.
