Gaining weight after five years
It's been a long long time since I've been on this board. In the past year and a half I've gained about 30lbs and I'm getting very discouraged. I originally lost 182lbs and I swore I'd never let myself gain weight but here I am gaining weight. I've had health issues and that's not helped in keeping myself on track. When I stopped coming to this board I found people to be very judgemental and that's the reason I stopped participating. I'm in need of support now and would like to try this board for support again. I just need some people to communicate with and share feelings again on RNY weight loss. If you can do that and not judge then I'd really like to chat with you.
Thanks,
Frankie

Welcome back Frankie ! This is a very friendly board. You might also be interested in the Back on Track board, no judgements made there either just very supportive and those are people trying to get it back together or just trying to stay on track.
I am seven years out, had put some weight back on and have taken 18 pounds of it back off since November, the things I did differently was to get back to the OH boards and talk to WLS friends and go back to the "rules" of the pouch, it has been a godsend. Michiganders are a wonderful group of people.

Hey Frankie,
First Welcome!
Sorry to hear your struggling. If I recall correctly there are a few people here that are getting a support group in the Lansing area together, if that's not to far for you. I honestly don't remember who they are because it's to far of a drive for me. But hopefully they will chime in. I really like face to face support groups, I wish I had one up in my neck of the woods.
Have you reviewed the "rules". I know when I start slipping I try to right my eating and make sure I'm getting in all my water and it helps get things back in control. You could try tracking your food on fitday, I find that so helpful, it's amazing what a little bite here and there end up adding to.
Good luck and come back any time, we're here for you.

Hi Frankie,
I'm 5 years out and have gained 20 lbs. I just got an email from OH congratulating me on 5 years. I haven't posted on here for quite some time as well. One of my stressers has been physical injuries that have eliminated my being able to excercise.
It's certainly not difficult to gain weight with this surgery this far out. My sister had the surgery a few days earlier and has gained over 50lbs.
I'm trying to focus on eating more protein and less time in the reclyner.
It's so great to hear from someone from "the good old days"!
I'm hoping by reading of the early struggles we endured this might help me to take bet ter care of "MY TOOL".

Hi Frankie and all,
No judgement call by me. I gained weight(over 30 pounds) but---I am proof that if you set our mind to it, follow the rules, you can get it back off again. Glad to hear from other "long- termers" (I don't like the phrase old- timers.. Have a great day and hears to a healthy 2010.
