Monday Morning Coffee
It's been a solid 3-4 weeks of craptastic eating. In fact I went through a phase where I was eating 1800-2000 calories a day (in an attempt to shorten my calorie deficit and jumpstart the scale) -- but no loss or gain. I also went back down to 1100 calories for a while, still no movement. I trained for a half marathon this summer - no weight loss. Injured my knee and haven't worked out in 4 months, no weight gain. Unfortunately nothing makes the scale move for me and my doctors are trying to figure out what's going on.
It's frustrating for sure. But hopefully the doctors will figure out what's going on with my stupid body.

The scale can measure the weight of my body but never my worth as a woman. ~Lysa TerKeurst author of Made to Crave
I was very interested in your blog post.
As you know, I've been having trouble since I was 18 months out. I kept telling my surgeon's office that it's like someone thew an "OFF" switch for my weight loss. I have had my PCP do the cortisol and thyroid test...even tests for Cushing's Syndrome, etc. Everything comes back fine.
Like you, I showed my FitDay and exercise log. There just isn't any "normal" reason I can't seem to lose weight.
I had my revision on 12/16 and have been on a one week pre-op liquid and then typical post-op diet and have only lost 14 lbs. Yes, I know it's 14 lbs., but in order to do that, I have had to consistently stay under 800 calories, which is killing me. I also lost 10 of that on the pre-op diet...so since surgery I've only lost 4 lbs.
Anyway, I just wanted to chime in and say I'm so glad your medical team is helping you with this. My first surgeon's office at U of M was very dismissive of me. The NUT actually said that I might be visiting the drive thru more than I care to remember. Ugh!
I have my 3 week follow up with Dr. Katz tomorrow. We'll see what he says about the weight loss.
Good Luck in figuring out the puzzle!
My cortisol results came back at 22.1 -- which is .1 above the high end of the range. My thryoid panel came back 1 or 2 points above the high end too. But when the PCP office called, they said "everything is normal". I meet with the PCP again next week so I'll confront him on those in person.
I don't think there's anything mechanical wrong with my pouch or stoma -- I still get major restriction when I eat dense foods. But I feel there is something biological going on that is screwing up the balance of calories in vs. calories out. Hopefully we'll be able to figure it out.
I hear you on the frustration of the 14lbs. I hope things will speed up for you soon.

Yes, that's definitely a possibility. But before I can accept that I want to make sure that there's not something medically going on that needs to be fixed. Personally 190-ish pounds and a size 16 doesn't feel like a comfortable weight to me mentally and emotionally... and I don't think I can accept that until the other stuff has been ruled out.

The blog template is one I found online and loaded into Blogger. I can edit with a WYSIWYG editor or I can switch over and edit the HTML code directly - and I do both. The photos all have to be resized in HTML to fit the width of the template, for instance.
Thanks for checking it out. I'm having fun with it! :-)

I had scrambled eggs this morning . . thank goodness for MacDonald's and there side order of eggs . . I was way behind on this Monday morning. I have started my water this morning but a nice cup of warm tea sounds better.
QOTD- My challenge will be to get my water in . . I have been so bad lately and it shows. I got back on track with my work out and I even did 500 steps on my stepper before work. I will do the gazelle tonight so I will have 5 days under my belt. I hadn't really worked out since my TT and it was time to get back on board.
Have a good Monday all!
