Good Morning All,

I have to say I am enjoying this holiday time with my kids very much.  I am also excited about my job.  I have set hours now and I am doing some of the office paperwork.  I know it does not sound like fun but it is an excellent step up.

After rereading my post op blue book and going over my labs I have noticed that some of the vitamins the doctor said to take are the ones I have noticed that most people on the boards say do not absorb.

This brings me to the QOTD:  What vitamins do you take?  Please list them all and the dosage.

Good morning everyone.  I am relaxing this morning.  Going to clean the house today and take down the tree when I get around to it.

QOTD:   I  take two mutivitamins a day.  1200 mg of calcium citrate with vitamin d every day,  500 mcg of B-12, and 18 mg two times a day of ferrous fumurate.  Pam is an expert on vitamins if you have any questions.

Happy belated New Year, Michigan!

I am supposed to take multivitamins and calcium but I forget most of the time.  Let me make a New Year's resolution to be better about that.

Good Morning Michiganders and Cheryl B.
It's a new day and a new year, looking forward to a new beginning too.

It is so cold out side. Took the doggies out and nearly froze my buns off. LOL

Not doing anything until I get in my water today. I have been lacking for the entire holiday week. So that is going to be my point of endurance.
Funny you should be asking about vitamins this day. That is beginning to be come and issue with me too. I was doing really well prior to surgery. never missed a dose.  but, since my surgery it has become a chore to take my pm vitamins. I usually miss two or three days a week.
Pam Helped me set up a schedule a few weeks ago and straighten me out on the correct way to take them.

QOTD:
Calcium should be taken no more than 500 ius at a time because you can not absorb more than that at a time so Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Iron can not be taken with in two hours of calcium or vise a verse.
Iron should also be taken on an empty stomach for better absorption. that is why I take them at bedtime,
vitamin C should be taken with Iron to aid in the absorption.
I take biotin to help prevent hair loss.
Actigal is the 5 month medication for gal bladder sludge prevention.

Here is my daily regimen:
A.M after Breakfast Daily                         Wednesday only A.M. Breakfast
                                                                                       1 Vitamin D3- 50 50000iu
1 vitamin B-12 2000 iu
1 Calcium Citrate 500 iu
1 Centrum Silver
1 Actigal (prescribed med)

P.M. @ Lunch Daily
1 Centrum Silver
1 Vitamin B-6 100mg
1 Calcium Citrate 500 iu

P.M. @ Dinner Daily
1 Calcium Citrate 500 iu
1 Biotin
1Actigal (prescribed med)

P.M. at Bed time
1 Vitamin C1000mg Chewable (at bed time on empty stomach)
1 Vitron-C 200mg (high potency Iron plus C) (at CVS drugs) (at bed time on empty stomach)
*Iron should be Ferrous fumarate, there are one that say ferrous something else but it dose not absorb well and causes constipation.

I was using the chew-ables that you get from HFH pharmacy but opted to just take the ones form CVS. not chewable cause they are gross. That grossness made me get a mental block and I started to miss a lot of my dose's. So as I run out of the "HFH" chew-ables I am just buy the one from CVS.

Good morning, everyone!  Having my coffee.  We all slept in until 9AM today!!  YAY!!  We are heading out a little later to hit Kohls and then Lowes for some carpet shopping.

QOTD:  Before I had surgery, I had been taking Pre-natal vitamins, prescribed by my PCP.  I took one a day, at that time.  After surgery, I started taking 2 a day.  My labs have always been fine.  The only time I was deficient in anything was while I was pregnant.  My vitamin D and Iron were low, so I took both until after birth.  My annual labs were done last August and the only thing low was my D.  I started taking a liquid Vitamin D from Whole foods and it came up to normal in just a month or so.  !

Morning Cheryl,

I have to say, I CANT WAIT FOR SCHOOL TO START BACK UP!!!  But the holidays were good for my family.  Its nice to have everyone together.  congrats on the new job responsibilites.

qotd:  I take a centrum once a day when i can remember.  i am supposed to be taking vit D cuz my level was low last time, but i forget that too.  i get a b12 shot once a month.  my resolution is to remember to take my vits every single day.  seems simple enough, right?

 Hey BM

Bump that up to 2 centrums per day.  And where's your calcium, my dear?  You need 3-4 doses of 500mg per day.

Hey Pam,

Thanks for noticing.  I have calcium citrate in my cabinet, but I forget to take them.  I need to treat it like i treat my insulin, just do it the same time every day.

I will up my centrums too.

thanks again, you are always such a great help! :)

It's funny you are talking about this because I posted a ? on BOTT about getting it all in.  You see starting yesterday I was going to get all the suppliments in.  I quickly became overwhelmed and fell behind.  I was wondering how much I should be on at 9 mo out.  These posts are helping.  Keep them coming.
