Good Morning all,

My goal this year is to get healthier, as some of you have read.  I've been feeling like crap lately, we've ruled out a few nasty diseases, so that's good, but I still have major facial/sinus pain and incredible light sensitivity, and I still have the masses in my lungs.  I have an appt w/ one of my  Dr.s tomm. AM, I've seen him a few times, but this time I'm going to make him do something besides say, hmmmmmm.  Anyways, my goal for this year is to figure all these weird medical issues I have going on, I'm sick of being a House episode.  Something new that I'm going to do is see a holistic Dr. on the 19th to have someone look at the whole pic.....I think that's my biggest problem, I have too many specialists who don't look beyond their specialty ie: sinus, lungs.....and my Internist thinks I'm too complicated for her and she just sends me out to specialists, akkkkkkk!

Sorry to vent, but if I had to pick a resolution for the year that's it, figure out what the hell is going on with me, I didn't loose all this weight to do nothing but have scans and visit Dr.'s offices!

Edie,

I sure hope you can get some answers on your health!!!!  That has to be so frustrating.  I agree with what you are saying about having all the specialists just looking at their piece of the pie.  Maybe it will be helpful to see the holistic Dr.

Thanks Nan,

You know what's funny is that with all this facial pain I went to a neurologist and he actually though the facial/sinus pain was related to my lungs, I was elated that someone looked at everything going on, but when the blood work came back ruling out an auto-immune disease and the CT of my sinuses showed something deep in my sinus, out of his office I go and back to the ENT who sent me to him (the neurologist) in the first place.  It's kinda like the pulmonoligist who sent me to the thoracic surgeon, after a test or two the surgeon is sending me back to the pulmonoligist.  I have had 5 CT scans of my lungs and 2 CT scans of my sinuses, in the past 9 months all of them showing issues, but nothing specific enough for a dx.  I've also had a bronchoscopy and a CT guided bx of my lungs, all that ever showed was inflammation and no one knows why I have inflammation, or what to do about it!

It's just FRUSTRATING!!!!

Sorry to vent again, I'm just sick of it!

I have no joint pain, and a blood test the neurologist did was to check for auto-immune diseases and that came back normal.

But hey, keep the idea's coming, maybe someone out there can dx me!!

I am praying you get an answer so you can treat the problem.

I know how frustrating it can be for Dr's to treat the symptoms and not find the cause.
I went Thu this a while back with lower back pain.

My weight loss has helped to get that under control.
so may be they could have just said to me "Mary Your too fat, and the weight is causing too much pressure on your back" I actually determined that all by myself and that is why I had WLS

Edie, May be you should keep a symptom diary. document every little issue with date, time and what your doing when it happen. That way you can see what is consistent, and recurring. And what you try to alleviate it. what helps and what don't. What docs. you've seen and what they did for you and the results. too.

Become more proactive in your care because they my over look things because they think the other specialist checked it.

Oh I've been proactive, look at the above post about all the tests I've had done and specialists I've seen.  When your a previous cancer patient they don't ignore symptoms, they just can't figure out what is causing all of it.

My biggest fear right now is my light sensitivity, I can't handle sunlight with out pain and I'm going on a 10 day Mexican crusie in less than 6 weeks!

I've actually been taking Advil for the past 3 weeks because NOTHING else helps (well except Lortab, and that only helps on the pain not the light sensitivity and I have to work).  It took allot for me to try Advil, but it is the only thing that helps and now I'm worried about ulcers on top of everything else, uggggg!

If you're doing advil, make sure you're also doing a proton pump inhibitor (prevacid or prilosec).  Just to reduce the risk of ulcers a bit.

We have had this issue with DH and his stroke.  The neurologist sent him to the cardiologist, of which we saw three different ones in the same medical system.  Two agreed on their findings, the 3rd was exactly the opposite.  His stroke was not a clear, cut case and they are having a difficult time pin-pointing a cause.  They each seem to wash their hands of him, so we sought outside opinions from a NON UM doc.  We keep hearing things like, "Well, you're already taking Coumadin, so there's not much else we can do to prevent another stroke."  Um, Coumadin is rat poison and has to be watched VERY CLOSELY so he stays at a therapeutic level.  He'll probably be on it the rest of his life, but it would be nice to have a specific cause so that maybe he wouldn't have to be on it forever.
Sorry, I hi-jacked your vent with my own.  LOL!
