I know I will be getting all the info I need from my surgeon's office as I get close to a surgery date, but in the meantime my curiosity is killing me.  What exactly is on the menu for the pre op liquid diet????    I

This depends on your surgeon's plan.  My surgeon prescribes a specific brand of protein shake (3X a day for women), an optional protein bar (I opted out), and then no-calories liquids and sf jello.  Tho, her plan also stated no more than 20 additional carb grams a day and no more than 30 calories a day (just adding benefiber to a protein shake takes up 15 calories).  So, mostly I drank water and herbal tea with splenda.

it does depend on the surgeon, but broth, s/f popsicles, jello, s/f pudding, cream soups.  i was always a fan of the s/f slurpees.

Mine was full liquids 60gs of protein perday  for 4 days and then clear liquids on the day prior to surgery.

some surgeons don't eve have a plan. some require two weeks prior to surgery.

Thanks, all, for replying.  My surgeon does 1 week of a pre op liquid diet.  Very curious now as to what they do.  I'll have to ask when I go for my next weigh in January 13th.

I'm curious too.  I haven't been told anything from where I'm getting my surgery.  All I know, I've been approved and still waiting for the surgeon's office to call.  I am wondering if I will have to do any pre op diet, too.  I wish they would have told me by now so I can prepare for it.
I guess I have to wait and see too.  I'm sure they will tell you also when the time is right.

To chime in a bit late :)

This is to the best of my memory, my surgery was over 2 years ago.....I believe I did 4 protein shakes a day (from a package that I bought through my weight loss Dr.), and as many salads as I wanted, my salads were not to have any carbs and the dressing was to have very low carbs w/ good oil (I make my own w/ flaxseed oil, balsamic vinegar and a good season Italian packet).

It wasn't that bad, and I knew there was a VERY good reason I did it....needed to shrink that liver so I was more likely to be able to have a laprascopic procedure.

Good luck,

Edie
