Tomorrow I begin my protein and liquid diet.  I will weigh in on Wednesday and barring any setback with that, I'll be having surgery on Monday.

I am alternately excited, calm, terrified.  I have been pretty good during the day, but at night when I lie in bed and start thinking too much, I get very anxious.

Any and all encouragement is welcomed!

Its actually very normal to get the "pre surgery jitters".  I know a lot of us have questioned if we really are doing the right thing and if we should try "one more time" to lose it the traditional way.

This is absolutely the best thing I've done for myself.  Yes, its a change of lifestyle, but its necessary to keep the weight off, and be healthy in the long run.

You will do fine!!!

Thanks Jody.  That's exactly what I was thinking, if I'd really tried hard enough before.  Anyway, I know that I have not been successful before so this is what I will do.

The liquid diet really does not concern me.... I've almost survived the first day. haha

Thanks for kind thoughts.

I feared that as well.  But I made it through.  Just make sure to drink, drink, drink.  I felt faint after a week in, and opted for the emergency meal, but after talking to Linda in the office she said it was probably from not drinking enough, since the liquid diet puts you into diuresis(SP?).

I would highly recommend asking them for one box of the chicken soup.  I originally bought a box of hot cocoa, mocha, and vanilla.  By the end of the first week I wanted something that wasn't sweet, so I bought a box of the chicken soup.  I had issues mixing the chicken soup sometimes, as well as two packets of the hot cocoa did not cooperate.  As for the vanilla, I loved to mix it with a little bit of almond extract and cinnamon, then nuke it and drink it hot/warm.

The time I was usually hungry was at night, especially if I stayed up too late.  I just drank lots of water, and hot tea and was able to be comfortable.  You'll do great.

Hi Sandi!!
I just wanted to wish you luck on your upcoming surgery!!  I haven't had mine yet (just got approved),  but I have read posts like yours and I have learned having tons of emotions are perfectly normal!!  So, you're not alone by any means.
I will be praying for you and the surgeon and all who are involved with your surgery!!
God Bless,

Hi Sandi

I had issues too I stayed on the board all the time. and Kept busy the rest.
I went to work out a lot and stayed at the gym in the pool on the Treadmill, bike, sauna, sun room, then came home and cleaned, and back to the OH boards. Any thing to keep busy. busy busy, so when I did lie down I was so tired I fell fast asleep.

I visited my sisters, and neighbors. Any one that would have me.
And anything to keep my mind off of the big event.

once you get that shot to relax you it will be just fine. LOL.

Gosh Mary, I couldn't tell you were at all nervous by your messages.  Also I was very interested in your comments each day, sort of a play-by-play analysis.

I am trying to stay busy.  I have a quilt I want to finish before I go in.

Did you have any restrictions as far as stairs after your surgery?
