Medically Supervised Diet. Please Help.
Hmm. Jess. You really have got me thinking now.
Isabella County has 3 options. McLaren, Molina, and I can't remember the third right now. But those 2 weremy main two.
McLaren I used to have as a teen when my Mother got it for me, as a supplement to my Father's insurance.
Molina seems to have a GREAT response here on ObesityHelp.com
But now I'm wondering. I was leaning towards Molina, but now you have me wondering about McLaren

Hello everyone. I'am a newbie and I have Medicaid, McLaren Health Plan. My primary doctor says their rules are a six month document of diet and exercise before it is submitted. I called McLaren Bariatric Institute yesterday in Flint and asked if there was anything further I needed to do in the meantime. I was told no, to do the six months and it would go from there. As of Jan. 14, I will have three months left of the six. I began at 5'3" and 295lbs. I started on my docs low-fat plan but have switched to 2 protein shakes a day and healthy snacks plus one reg. meal. I'am down to 262. I also go to PT because I have MS. Just thought I would share what I know! Best of luck.

Well my other two options for provider are 12 months, no matter what surgeon wants what. lol. From what I've read on the forums, many feel 12 months is crazy. Thanks Kim, you too!

12 months is crazy but if you can find a way to get it paid for and you feel you need it ...well thats a lot of money they are paying out and you have 12 months to learn how to live a healthier life and learn how you will have to live afterward :) I've had to come to terms with this myself... I see TONS fo people on this website who seem to have gone through this surgery completely unprepared and I feel this is why the statistics seem bad I mean come on! Spend some time cruising around the boards and you will surely see what I mean.
MCLAREN says 12 months however Dr. Kia's office at the MCLAREN Bariatric told me they submit for approval after 6 months ... you have to have your weight charted by your doctor never more than 5 weeks between visits and you HAVE to put in effort and lose some weight... but she said they always approve if you meet qualifications at that point. :)
