Anyone with my insurance?

BCBS PPO?  We have it through Meijer and it's called the Extended Care Plan.

No matter if you have this insurance or not, does anyone know where I can get emergency coverage in case of complications?  Our policy has a plan year max of $50,000.  I would probably want to have it through the end of the year as you never know when something could happen, related to WLS or not, right?

Wow!  Only $50,000 per year coverage.  That sucks!  Hope you don't get sick in some other way -- not even related to WLS.  Mmm....

So, you might want to call BCBS to see if they will sell you a major medical policy on an individual basis.   You might also want to check out the Insurance Forum here on OH, they  may have other suggestions -- lots of experts over there.

I have BCBS PPO through my employer Jackson National Life.  You should call for your individual plan though to find out about coverage, etc.  My plan is 90/10 (I pay a 10% coinsurance for certain things) with an out of pocket max of $1000 and $250 deductable.  So, I only have to pay $1000.  Two hundred and some of that was for my pre-op lab work, and the rest from my surgery.

With a $50,000 max you're going to be cutting it close.  I wonder if that's 50K in claims or 50K that they'll pay out?  Total charges for my surgery were just over 40K, but the amount they paid (agreed on amount) was only something like 16K.
