Jan - I go to a lady named Deb at Merle Normans.  She has been cutting (and everything else to do with it) my hair for over 10 years now - I LOVE her.  Her prices are very good too.  She was at BoTangles on Garfield when I met her and followed her to Merle Normans. (she kept the same pricing structure BoTangles had)  Even when I moved to Virginia, I always planned my trips home around when I needed a haircut and scheduled with her.  I tried several there - and they just couldn't do it the same...

I hate changing hair stylists too - its SO stressful!!

I've switched to half-caf and fat free creamer now... baby steps. lol

Hey I actually remember the blizzard of '78!  I was 3 years old so it's possible my memories are from pictures but THAT was some crazy stuff!  Snow was deeper than the roof of a car and people were being dug out of their houses!

Hmm  I am not fond of being outside in the cold anymore but still  I want to dwell on the positive
and I can think of so many times sitting by a fire watching the snow fall...or driving around and just being amazed at how incredibly beautiful everything looks when covered in snow! (especially with christmas lights!)

We would snowmobile a lot when I was a kid.  We lived out in the country so there was always places to go. I think I was just born in the wrong state, I hate the snow and all that it brings.  Bring on the sun.

I'm right there with you.  As I get older, I just detest the cold and snow.  I seriously want to move south someday!

Good morning, everyone!  Drinking my coffee...contemplating a trip to the grocery store.  Well, I HAVE to go to the store, just don't want to go outside in the cold, especially with Dub.  I wish my hubby was home with me everyday!!  I could get so much done!
QOTD:  Snow memories...well one of my favorite snow related happenings USED to be SNOW DAYS!!  But since I'm not teaching anymore, they just don't hold the same excitement.  It's a weird feeling to try to explain "missing" that feeling of an unexpected day off, especially when I have EVERY day "off"...so to speak.  Hubby didn't get it.  LOL!  Anyway, my favorite snow memories from when I was a kid were sledding.  We lived across from the country club on the lake.  It had huge hills.  We could start at the top of the hill and sled all the way down onto the ice on the lake!  Then we would go home and my mom would make hot chocolate from scratch.  Yum...good times!

Morning chilly Michigan
I don't mind snow  but why cant we have it at 75 degrees??
I have one of my kittys out and missing.  He runs out and likes to play outside but hasn't come in and I don't like that   he isn't used to the cold.   He has a thick long coat and I am sure  can find plenty of places to get in of the wind  but hes my baby.     I'm  heading out to the garage to see if he got shut in there in a few.  If so  hes gonna be hungry  and ill get yelled at!!
I'm  drinking hot tea but it doesn't taste good  .
QOTD  Snow days when we were kids!   We had a great sledding hill right behind us and all the neighborhood kids would be there. then we would go in to homemade cocoa and some kind of home made goodies because my mom was always baking!   Be safe everyone

Good morning!  Finished my protein coffee, already had a cup of diet hot chocolate and will start working on the water... I don't get enough and need to start working on that more.

QOTD:  Oh - I remember the winter of '79. My ex-husband was at Air Force training (and I was with him) at Chanute IL.  There was this HUGE snowstorm and we were renting a mobile home and I remember hearing a  CRASH... looked up - didn't see anyone, so I went back to sleep.  Several hours later I hear someone banging on the door going "Jody - are you ok???""  The awning outside had collapsed under the weight of the snow and blocked one of the doors.

There's another winter I remember, but don't know what year - I was fairly young (60's maybe?) and the snow (in Flint) was drifted up to the roof of the garage.. My sister was up there sliding down it until our mother yelled at her!  Dad was an accomplice - they both got in trouble.

Winter of '78 I remember too - they were only allowing snowmobiles out - and I got mad at my BF (soon to be husband) because he wouldn't ride his from Flushing to Flint to see me - lol.

Good morning all, had my normal 2 cups of coffee this am and now working on diet drink.  It is cold and howling outside.  And to think winter hasnt even started  yet.

I dont know about my favorite but one of my most vivid memories I believe was in 1975 or 1976.  Everything was shut down because of the snow and hospitals were begging people that could to come in and help out.  I was a volunteer there and my dad got me up there (about 4 miles) and I volunteered for the entire day.  Ended up because of my willingness to volunteer on such a crappy day, I got hired there.

Good morning all!

My last final exam is tonight and my final project is done and ready to turn in.  The big project at work is done.  Still have a bit of catching up to do... but I feel hopeful today that life is about to slow down and become enjoyable again.  You know I'm doing too much when my mom says that she thinks I need to slow down and not do so much (coming from the woman who doesn't know how to slow down herself).  So the only thing I have left on my calendar this month is a slew of Christmas parties -- and that's a good thing!  :-)

QOTD -- I don't remember the details or when it was, but as a kid there was one especially snowy winter (maybe the blizzard of 78 you mentioned Deb) and there was a huge drift in the yard between our house and the neighbor's.  I remember my mom and me and my sister (not sure if my brother was around by then or not) - we were out there for days building the coolest snow fort.  It had tunnels and caves and an ice slide with stairs up the back.  The neighbor kids were out there helping too.  I was probably 7 or 8 years old, I think.

And now... I hate winter and avoid snow at all costs.  Can't stand to be cold.  LOL

Good chili morning Michiganders.
I slept in today. I actually woke up at 4 A.M. then went back to sleep. After watching a movie called Door to Door. It was interesting.  So now I will be doing some protein drink and a bar to up my protein cause of what I missed for breakfast.  Staying in and keeping warn today.

QOTD:
Detroit's second biggest snowstorm (19.3") which occurred on December 1st, 1974.
Light snow moved into extreme Southeast Lower Michigan during the predawn hours between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM. Even at the 5:00 AM forecast issuance, it looked as if just one to three inches of snow would blanket extreme Southeast Lower Michigan for this event. However, by sunrise, already up to three inches of snow covered the region and the snow was not getting any lighter. By sunrise, an area of snow had settled over extreme Southeast Lower. By now, the forecasters knew the forecast was in trouble and updated the forecast to read "six or more" inches of snow. By mid afternoon, already between six and ten inches of snow was on ground across much of extreme Southeast Lower Michigan, with generally eight to ten inches in the metro Detroit area. As darkness fell, generally up to a foot and a half of snow smothered the metro Detroit area, with six to twelve inches elsewhere in extreme Southeast Lower Michigan. During the evening the snowfall became lighter and by midnight, 18.4" was officially observed at Detroit Metro Airport. Another nine tenths of an inch fell early on the 2nd, for a grand total of 19.3" (19.2" of it falling in 24 hours)

I remember my brothers and dad shoveling snow in shifts all through the night to keep up on it.
by the time morning fell the snow was piled so high that when you walked down the side walk the snow was up to my shoulders. the neighborhood looked like one of those mice maze's.
and a bright note my first boyfriend (I was 14 or so) came walking to my house from about 10 miles away to bring me my Christmas gift.  It was a watch that the faceplate and band would change so I could have different colored ones. they were red, green, white, yellow, and blue.
remember it was the 70's

I know you all talk about the one in 78 but the one in 74 was bad too.

in the one of 78 I remember I was working in Flatrock, Michigan. the state police shut down the I75 and called our work and the company paid everyone to stay and provided food for all of us and paid us to stay at the plant. We slept on table in the cafeteria and on benches in the restrooms and locker room. but we all got paid and then when they let us leave, I was traveling home at west road and 75 and when I was going down the hill all the cars were sliding sideways. It took 5 hrs to get home a normal 40 minute drive.

Baby its cold outside!
Have a terrific Thursday! and Be warm and safe.
