Good Morning Michiganders!

Well i got up early enough to catch the Sunday Shut In service on the telly. And I came to think how Sunday Service is all about reflection and meditation. So Today I would like to invite every one to Meditate or reflect on the topic of Holidays. This time from Thanksgiving to the day after we greet the New Year in. And answer this queation.

I sound so spiritual. Guess I just woke up too early this am.

QOTD: How do you stay on track during the holidays? What is your favorite Christmas song?

This will be my first Holiday season with my new friend stitich. I am not sure how this will go. I am hoping stitich will not fail me and keep me in check.  And If not I am too afraid to over do since I just got stitch 25 days ago. My favorite song is Silver Bells.

Have a Savy safe Happy Sunday.

I want a hippopotomus for Christmas...  I sing along with that one too.  It's a happy song.  I also love Silent Night.  I used to sing with the General Motors Chorus and absolutely loved the Christmas concerts we did, in churches and nursing homes.  We had many many songs to learn and I pretty much loved them all.  Actually, I just love to sing.
I'm going to stay on track by having lots of protein in the morning and staying full during the day.  I'm going to brine a chicken and make cranberry sauce and mashed taters.  No stuffing, cuz I don't think I'd be able to control myself.  I think that will be enough for us.
I hope everyone has a wonderful bright sunny day.  It's beautiful up here.

Good Sunday Morning Mary and everyone!
Love Sunday mornings with the coffee and morning paper. Will be heading to church later....
Can't beat this weather. Went for a bike ride yesterday and may repeat it today as it looks like this will be it for awhile.
QOTD-Will be changing my cooking/baking strategies. Just one type of Christmas cookie this year. Not baking any desserts. Really watching portion control.
Favorite Christmas song? Est ist ein Rose Ersprungen. (Lo how a Rose is Blooming) and Stille Nacht. Lovely old German songs that makes me feel all sentimental about Christmas. Have a lot of favorites as I love Christmas music...

Good morning to all!

This will also be my first holiday since surgery.  I plan on staying on track by not filling my plate, eating protein first, and not allowing my eyes to be bigger than my stomach.

My favorite Christmas song is "So This Is Christmas" by John Lennon.

Good Morning Mary and Everyone,
I was able to get out of the house for abit yesterday and it was nice.  I am finally all better from the flu.  Yesterday was the first day I was able to eat out of the last 4.  QOTD: I came home from the hospital on Christmas Day last year so it was easy to stay on track.  This year I plan on eating my protein first and a bite of anything else I may want.  I have come so far and still have many miles to travel so I hope I will not have any issues with food.  My daughter also keeps an eye on what I eat and will say hey mom do you really need that if I over do it.  My favorite Christmas song is Do They Know It Is Christmas.

Good Morning All,

Dinner is not at my house this year, I think that will help.  I will get in protein first and then taste what I want to.  Moderation I guess is the key for me.

What song do I like?  The drummer boy. Always loved that one as a kid. I also like O Holy Night.  I learned to sign to that song so it means more to me.

Went to craft show yesterday.  It is usually packed full of crafters and customers.  Not this year.  It was sad.  Not sure it is a sign of the economy or timing for people.  I found a few things.  I was hoping to find my in-laws present there, no such luck.

Are any of you black Friday shoppers??  I go sometimes. I am not real hard core about it.  This year not much in the ads for me.  I also have to work that day at 9.

How about your Christmas tree? Is it up yet?  I don't not have mine up yet.  Kids wanted to wait until after Thanksgiving.

Morning all,

Had some coffee this AM w/ pumpkin pie creamer, it was pretty good.  I also bought candy cane peppermint flavor.....I might try that later today or tomm.

Q:  This will be my 3rd holiday season, the first was very easy, I had my surgery  a week before Thanksgiving, so it was a no brainer.  It was actually odd to see how upset/concerned everyone else was for me.  It didn't bother me at all, I was so focused on the rules that it was easy peasy.  The next year was also pretty easy.....lead w/ protein, if you do that you won't have room for much more.
Like Danielle said (I think it was her), I want to be normal, I don't want this whole food thing to be an addiction problem for me forever.  I watch and try to emulate normal people.  I've talked to people in detail about how they stay skinny.  ALL of them deprive themselves every day, they don't eat whatever they want whenever they want.  They don't bring crap in the house and they try to stay in control 90% of the time.  So that's what I try to do, I don't succeed every day, but I am soooo much better than I was pre op.  Sorry to ramble.

Have a great day all.

Edie

Oh yea, my fav song....gosh there are so many.  O Holy Night is right up there, also Christmas List (by Amy Grant), make me tear up everytime!

Hey Edie,
What kind of creamer do you use?  I have been looking at the sugar free stuff in the cooler at Meijer, but they only have caramel and vanilla.  Is the one you use sugar free?  If so, where did you get it?
