Newbie Looking for a surgeon in the Livonia MI area

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie here!!  I've talked to a couple of clinic's
Michigan Bariatric Institute@ St. Marys in Livonia (Dr Zeni)
Barix in Ypsilanti (Dr Schram)
and McLaren Bariatric in Flint ( Dr Kia)

Does anyone have any insight on any of these surgeons/clinics?

I haven't met with any surgeons yet but just from talking on the phone & getting information

It seemed like MBI @ St. Mary's really had it together as far as answering my questions and knowing what my insurance wants to get approved

Barix - didn't have any answers too my question and I felt they were pushy

McLaren - Is far, Dr Kia is new and the other Surgeon I've heard has bad bedside manner..

Any other reccomedtions out there?

I've been looking online trying to find a Dr. Thru Henry Ford that is within my Insurance network..I have Aetna..

Dr Steven Hendrick with Henry Ford is in Network, Is he with your team of Drs?

There are three hospital site for WLS

you should check each one.

I was Dr. Zeni's 50th patient at St. Mary and MBI is now into the 600s.  They got my outstate insurance handled with a minimum of fuss.  They have an excellent program, their realistic approach gave me great confidence.  They are very available for questions. 

Dr. Zeni spent extra time removing old adhesions and he spent a good deal of time explaining the surgery to my elderly father.  I had no complications and have been healty since surgery.

MBI has a monthly support group which is open to the bariatric community.  I encourage you to visit it as well.

I have friends who have been through several of the area programs and  I am much happier with my experience than they are.

I had RNY at MBI in August. I have nothing but good things to say about their program. Lemme know if you have any questions.

My mom had her gastric bypass with Dr. Zeni in June and everything went great! I am having my sleeve done with Dr. Carlin on Dec. 10th at Henry Ford as Blue Care Network (my insurance) would not approve the surgery at St. Marys. Good Luck!

I had my sleeve done on 08/17/09 by Dr. Zeni....he is very nice, I have not had any complication, he is very precautious. I would recommend him in a heart beat. And the ladies are very helpful and they do have their stuff together.
