Irritated/infected navel

Hi there group -

I check in on this board from time to time just to stay connected but now I need some help. I am two years post op and doing great. I have had a couple instances though when the inside of my navel becomes irritated along with some sort of fluid leaking and some blood. At times the irritation can feel more like a bruise around the area. The fluid ends up stinking to high heaven and I can't seem to keep it dry or cleaned enough. I had laparoscopic roux en y and they went through my belly button. I wonder some times if it was not closed up properly.
Has anyone else dealt with this or has anyone heard of this? I just had my two year follow up and I forgot to mention this to my surgeon.
Any help is appreciated.

Tim,
I would go and see your surgeon again. I think you may have a stitch that is trying to sweat out. I know it happened to me at one point. Im not a doctor but thatis what I think.

I would go to my Doctor or Surgeon.

in the mean time I would make sure that after bathing/showering to dry the navel well

Call your primary care because you may have a yeast infections going on.

Recently there was a question about discharge and odor from the naval on Dr. OZ.  He said to see a doctor because it's a sign of some sort of infection.  Especially with the oozing and odor.

I actually had a yeast infection of my navel which was red, smelly and itching, but no discharge.  I didn't know it until the doctor pointed it out

I get this a lot, it's just yeast.   go to the pharmacy and ask for a bottle of powder called zeasorb, what it is is a powder which contains nitrazol that dries it up really god.   Make sure to cllean the area really good and dry before you apply the powder, it works miracles for me.
