question
HI,
We had surgery around the same time! I usually eat the same thing for breakfast every weekday at work. When I get here, I make a protien coffee. Then after about a half hour I eat a carb master yogurt and maybe a half a banana. Or a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese.

I'm a big protein shake person....(I've drank em' for years before my surgery), it's healthy and easy to take in the car and drink on my way to work (after my morning coffee of course).

I am not a morning person, plus I get up at 5:30 and have to make breakfast and lunch for everyone else. I just don't want to eat in the morning!
I mix up a sugar free instant breakfast with skim milk, just so there is something going on my pouch. Then I take small snacks to work. I have a little cottage cheese and maybe some carrots with peanut butter.
Can you make yourself a drink, like protein hot cocoa, to have in the earlier morning hours so you aren't running on empty until 10:30?

I use either chocolate or vanilla protein powder (any kind...I've used Anywhey or the Lifetime Fitness brand). Mix a scoop of powder with one packet of Swiss Miss Diet Hot Cocoa (got it at Meijer). Make a paste out of this using cool skim milk. Then I microwave about 6 oz. of skim milk in a seperate container. After it's warm, mix it in to the paste until combined.
I also use a lot of Torani sugar free syrups to flavor it. My favorite is coconut.

I eat 2 breakfastes. From the beginning my pouch has not done well with solid food first thing in the morning ... I thought I was passed that, but learned last week that the pouch can still be tempramental. So I do a protein drink right outta bed --- 7am or so. Then do a typical breakfast at 10am.
Since I eat breakfast at my desk at work during the week, it's usually something easy and portable. Weekends I might actually cook something.
Weekday Ideas
Yogurt w/ Fiber One cereal twigs
Instant oatmeal w/ tablespoon of protein powder
Normal oatmeal .. dry stuff prepped at home and nuked at work w/ water
Fruit and cheese
protein bar
baked oatmeal (cooked on the weekend and leftovers during the week)
Fruit cobbler (leftovers again)
Weekend Ideas
Carbquick pancakes and a side of meat (bacon, sausage, canadian bacon, etc.)
Steel cut oatmeal
Protein souffle (see Eggface blog for recipes)
Baked oatmeal
Notice that many of my choices are a bit carby. That's because it's balanced with the protein shake I have for breakfast #1. So if you're not doing a shake plus breakfast, then you'll need to pick other options besides oatmeal and fruit, etc.
Also notice I didn't list anything with eggs. That's the one food that my pouch has completely rejected, so I don't even bother trying anymore. If you add eggs to the list, there are a ton of new choices.
