Grand Rapids - GHP - Support Group?
I don't. I find their "topics" to be somewhat bizzare. I would prefer a support group that is more interactive, instead of the format they use. Afterwards, people tend to linger & chat, but I have yet to encounter another DSer there, so really can't relate or contribute on a personal level.
Of course, I am always available for a group gathering of DSers!
~ I am the proud wife of a Guatemalan, but most people call me Kimberley
Highest Known Weight = 370# / 59.7 bmi @ 5'6"
Current Weight = 168# / 26.4 bmi : fluctuates 5# either way @ 5'7" / more than 90% EWL
Normal BMI (24.9) = 159#: would have to compromise my muscle mass to get here without plastics, so this is not a goal.
I my DS. Don't go into WLS without knowing ALL of your options: DSFacts.com
I wish I could go to GHP lol Ive given up tryign to get that funded though... ah well.
I am actually in Lansing but you know... at some point people could jsut make their own support groups and meet heck even once a month I think... I would love to come... I have not had surgery yet but hanging with people who have been where I am and have gone through what I will go through... that can only be good for me I would think. :)

I went for awhile when they were MMPC, but they were at night and I work nights so I quit going. And I didn't like the formal format either ... I'd like something that was more informal, where I could chat with people and share problems, insights, etc.
I've had better success with the online support I've gotten from people I've met here and on the Over-50 forum.
