have you had a TT before at goal?
Hi,
First let me say that I am not a perfect RNY story. I stopped losing at 18 months (not even coming close to goal). I knew that after a year of not losing one pound that I certainly wasn't going to lose the 50+ to get to goal.
I could not stand the way my stomach would hang, and it hurt to sma**** in to my pants all the time. I started exercising and it felt horrible to have that overhang flopping around every time I was on the treadmill.
I had my TT done at about 3 years out. I initially weighed 317 before RNY. I lost 119 lbs. during the first 18 months. The morning of TT surgery I was 221 lbs. I have gained another 20 lbs. since my TT in February, but that is a whole other issue, and not related to the TT.
I am so glad I did it. I knew I couldn't keep waiting because that last bit of weight was not coming off. Even with gaining after the TT the part that was cut is still flat and it's so much more comfortable.
My doctor did not offer me the anchor, or upside-down T cut. I really wish I would have had that. I have a horrible muffin top that eventually will have to be taken care of. When you are interviewing surgeons, make sure to get their opinion on if you will need the vertical incision or not and do your own research.
Sorry that was such a long answer to your question!!

Hello,
I had my TT in September and I wasn't at goal but did maintained my weight for more than a year. I also never thought I would get to my goal . . one because it was so depressing having that large amount of skin hanging and two because I stopped losing after the first year.
Check with your doctor mine was very supportive and thinks that removing the excess weight in the middle will help me reach my goal.
Good luck to you,

I did have my TT before goal. My highest weight was 342. I had surgery in 2004. I had the TT in 2008 when I weighed about 225-230. I had plateaued at that weight for years, and I couldn't stand the belly anymore. I had over 13 lbs. taken off. It has made all the difference in the world to me. So glad I did it. I lost 20 pounds afterward. Still haven't made it into the 100's but hope to soon. I also totally recommend Dr. David Hing at St. Joe's in Ann Arbor - fantastic!
i am scheduled for tt on jan 7,2010 and am not at goal either. i started at 251 and have been at 175 for nearly a year. im beginning to think that is just the weight im supposed to be!
as in a previous post...i hope this surgery will jumpstart some more weightloss.
who is your ps? where are you located in mi?
im in the muskegon area and had tt consult with dr.deana thayer. i thought she was awesome!
good luck and take care
