Sunday Sleep over
Thank you all for your wonderful comments and wishes.
I been busy on my pain meds so didn't care about the clock. Hubby is a hunter but has not been able to go for a few years. never get right timing..
cooking venison. My neighbor up north is Cherokee Indian he taught us to cook a venison roast with potatoes in the oven the throw those potatoes out. because potatoes are a purifier and take away the wild game taste. then cook the carrots and potatoes your going to eat with it on the stove top. I have always hated venison. when my mother would cook it we would walk in the house from school get a whiff of it cooking and yell out oh venison I aint eating that. When my Indian neighbor fed me venison cooked that way I didn't even know the difference. He also introduced me to elk and Buffalo meat. all low in fat and hi in protein.

Yes, we remembered to set our clocks back last night, but our eyes still popped open at 5:20 this morning.. It will take us a couple of days to get into the new time change.
Hunting..Yes almost all of the men in my family hunt. Thank goodness you didn't ask how many actually bagged a deer? We all love venison and usually it depends on what the deer eat if the meat is that gamey tasting. One year DH got a buck up in the state woods near Gaylord. It was VERY gamey tasting. We didn't like it at all. The land had a lot of oak trees so our guess is that the deer ate a lot of acorns.
Now all the deer that the guys have gotten in and around corn fields have tasted yummy. Our family is like Jan's most of it is turned into hamburger and we use it in everything. I think liking the venison depends a lot on if you were raised on it. As a kid we had it at least once a week during the winter. We also had squirrel and rabbit. yummy..
I think the best part of deer season is all the stories people tell about how the big one got away! lol
