#1.  I would suggest not eating anything unless it is high protein.  Fig Newtons are not high protein - a cheese stick would be a better option.

#2.  Add a protein shake.

As for the hair, that is real common.  Most people lose hair from 3 to 6 months.  It does come back.  Mine came back curlier than prior to surgery.

I would suggest you go back and read the information you were given at your last checkup (hopefully you kept it).   It should give you diet information at your level.....

Your food plan lacks protein, like dmoore said.  Too many bad carbs and not enough good nutrition.  Keep a food journal, stay away from caffeine, drink all your 64 oz. of fluids, and exercise.  Follow the diet outlined in your last paperwork from your dietician.

As for hair loss, I take biotin -- you can get it at Wal Mart.....at first take 3 tablets per day and gradually wean off to one.....it works.

Hey, who you calling loose?  LOL

IMO you should still be having a protein shake as a snack.  I know a lot of us used the shakes as supplements for over a year post op.

Do you have one that you liked immediately post op?  You could substitute one of your cups of coffee for a hot chocolate with protein in it.  Also, try adding some cottage cheese as a snack.  I have that around all the time and if I realize at the end of the day I'm low on protein I will eat a few big spoonfuls of that.

Hey Tee, I'm no where near perfect but if you want to go shopping let me know, give us some time to hang out at least. As I told you yest I won't even eat rice crackers cuz I know bad carbs are my down fall so I stay as far away as poss. The only bad carb I have allowed myself is potatos w/my dinner, but I figure at leat is came out of the ground the way it is, not processed. I live on lunch meat, cheese, and chicken for the most part, with a few other things thrown in.

Take care

Why don't you mix some vanilla or chocolate protein powder with a tablespoon or two of skim milk or water so it dissolves then mix it in that coffee your drinking that would be about 25 grams per cup right there.

have cheese sticks or Greek yogurt. Fage taste like cheese cake.

Chicken Broth. with non flavored protein powder from GNC.

and Take your vitamins. Especially the B12 sublingle.

Hi Tee,
You are kinda carby for 3 months out.
It's all about making the right food choices, think fuel for your body! For the first year if it didn't have protein in it, I didn't reach for it....but of course it was my choice.

How about adding the almonds into your yogurt?
forget the pretzels and have beef jerky
Fig newtons...how about string cheese or an apple with peanut butter added to it?
Hopefully you are drinking decaf coffee, reg. coffee early out is bad on our pouches.

Better choices: fresh fruits/veggies/cheese/shrimp/yogurt/beef jerky/salmon patties...follow your surgeon's diet plan if he has one...or your Nut's advice.

You are doing good Tee with your weight loss, but this is your learning months to make good food choices and exercising so when you get further out, you have established your lifestyle change.

PM me if you want to talk more.

Every one is giving you wonderful advice..... Carbs are not my friend. You do need some but, you need to pick and choose your carbs. I am almost 7 years out and I still look to see how much protein and carbs and especially sugars are in what I eat. I was too skinny, had lost too much, ( looking around, did I say that) but, I sabotaged myself and wanted to gain a little weight back. Well I increased my carbs and now it is a daily fight because I fell back into some very old and bad habits.... Don't be in a hurry, the weight will come off, especially eating the right foods and exercising. Good Luck and keep us all posted.

I have a call into my Surgeon for a follow up. I havent been in there since 5 weeks out so i have no idea what Im supposed to eat. I just thougth it was high protein.

I'm going to go buy some biotics . Myhair is one thing I really like about myself. Dont want to loose it all
