Another hurdle cleared!!

Hi,
Today, I went in for my doctor visit and my blood pressure was high again.  My doctor came in and sat down and wanted to know how I was doing.  I told her that my coverage had changed and I just needed to be diagnosed with a comorbidity.  She took one look at my blood pressure and she said, "Well, you have hypertension, would that work?"  I yelled YAHHHHHH inside and calmly said that it would work.  She talked to me about being put on blood pressure pills too.  So, my doctor was going to fax over to Stacy, from Barix, my report from today showing the diagnoses and showing she prescribed me medication.  I am sooooooo happy.  I will call first thing when I can tomorrow and see if she got the report from my doctor's office.  Stacy said that once I got diagnosed with a comorbidity, she would need send in everything to our insurance for approval!!
So, I am closer now.
Now, I need to make sure Stacy gets out my stuff for approval and then I wait.
I just hope I wont have to wait too long.
Oh, yeah, I lost 2 pounds since last month's visit!!
We talked about how I was doing good going swimming and doing exersices.  My doc was proud of me.   She is happy for me and said she will be there every step of the way with me.

So, that's where I am now!!  Please pray for me.
Thank you all for all your help and advice,
God Bless,

Thanks, Mary!!
It sure seems like things are rolling for me now.  I was a bit nervous about being diagnosed, but it really was no big deal.
I shouldn't really say this, but...........I hope Stacy doesn't come back now and tell me something has changed again and I need to do something else!!
I am so excited, though, I have great peace about it.  I have prayed all along that if this is what God wants for me, then things will fall into place.  So far, they have.
I can't wait!!
Thank you for encouraging me all the time, Mary.

Tari,
I hope you don't have HAP insurance.  With HAP you need two comorbidities.  Luckily(?) I had several so I got approved quickly.  I think I had four.  Now I'm on the healthy side.  You'll be amazed, and your doctor will be so pleased too.

Congratulations!  It sounds like you've got a great Dr - it can be hard to find a PCP who understands and approves of WLS.

Hoping all goes well for you!

I just wanted to sympathize with your comorbidity issues.  My surgeon's office is working on submitting my insurance paperwork as we speak and I am waiting on tenterhooks because of the requirements, namely because I've only had a BMI over 40 for about 5 months and I don't have a comorbidity (at least not yet, and I don't want to wait until I get to that point, you know!)

It's crazy, On the advice of my PCP, I went for a sleep study and was really hoping that I had a VERY MILD case of sleep apnea, so that I could be more certain I would get my insurance to approve surgery. (no luck there!)  You know the system is messed up when you end up hoping that you DO have a health problem....

Good Luck with the Insurance challenges!

I totally understand. My BMI is under 40 so I HAD to have comorbidities and I was told PHP was one of the most difficult to get approval from for under 40.  But, my paperwork went to the insurance company last week and I got my approval yesterday. Woo Hoo..Hopefully you will know very soon.

Jan ~ No, I don’t have HAP.  We have Allied.  I am GLAD I don’t have HAP if I would have to have 2 comorbidities!!  I probably would have a hard time getting the second one!!  I seem to be borderline on everything.  LOL

God Bless!!

Hi Jody!!  Thanks you for the well wishes.  I do have a good doctor.  This doctor that I have been going to for the past 2 months isn’t my regular doctor, though.  My regular doctor has been called to the hospital to cover for someone there.  I was worried, but this other doctor, which is also a female, has been very good and helpful.  She is encouraging me to have this surgery.  She knows I have had battled with this weight for a long time.  So, yes, I am fortunate to have a doctor how is supporting this!  God Bless!!

Hi Gillian ~ I don’t understand why insurance companies would want us to have a comorbidity either ~ doesn’t make sense.   It’s funny when you get  wished for having a bad diagnosis!!  Sad.

I hope you get positive answers from your insurance soon!!   Thanks for your reply!!   God Bless.

Cheryl ~ HI girl!!  Thanks on the congrats!!   I hope you are right that I have a surgery date soon.  I called Stacy today and she said she submitted all my info to our insurance and now we are waiting!!   Hopefully soon I will be joining you on that bench, Cheryl!!

God Bless!!

Born2bfit ~ Congrats on getting your approval!!  I will say a prayer you will hear soon when your big day is.  God Bless!!!!

Edie ~ Hi there!!    You make me smile!!!  I know, you would NEVER want to wish someone to be diagnosed with something that could be life threatening, now would you?!!  But, thanks for your wishes ~ it worked.  LOL   Thanks.   Yup, just another step closer to being a healthier woman/mom/wife!!   YAH!!!

Now to all ~  I did call Stacy today and she had already gotten my report from  yesterday’s visit and she faxed everything over to our insurance.  So, now I sit and wait for my approval.  I’m so excited.

Thank you all for your well wishes and replies.

I love OH!!
