What am I doing wrong?
I had RNY 03/03/2009. I have lost a total of 90 pounds, the first 70 in 3 months. In the last 4 months I have lost a whopping 20 pounds. What in the world am I doing that I am not losing weight? I am counting calories, measuring, watching what I eat and I just seemed destined to stay right here. This is the weight I was for about 15 years before I started gaining again. Is it possible everyone has a weight that is just meant to be and this mine? 213 just seems awful high and I am NOT happy. Any suggestions?
What are you doing wrong??? NOTHING. Your body has to catch up with your weight loss. 90 lbs in 6 months is A LOT of weight. I was only down 60 lbs by my 6th month and didn't lose not one more lbs until I hit 9 months. I know it can be very upsetting but remember you have taken off a whole person in such a short time. I know this sound like a cliche' but give it time. I'm currently 4 yrs out and my weight loss stopped at about 1yr post op. Hell I even started to gain a few lbs after a year. Then I stayed the same for about 2 yrs and for some reason this year I began losing weight again and no I was not trying to. My start weight was 287 got down to 192 then went back up to 225. My current weight as of this morning is 178. So with this said you are doing wonderful. Don't become so dependent on the scale. Try on a pair of jeans today then try then on a month from now. The scale may stay the same however inches may be coming off. If you ever need a friend please contact me.
Aww Bless your Heart, it sounds like you are doing everything right!!!! You and I had surgery around the same time. I am down about 118 lbs but 20 of that was from the pre-op liquid diet, so in reality, since surgery I am down 99 lbs.....I think we are right on target.
I have been tracking my weight loss and have noticed it has gone from losing around 15 lbs a month to now around 8-10 lbs a month. I know it will even slow more as time passes. As long as you are showing a loss in each given month, I don't think your body is done losing yet! It may be slower than you like, but I bet you will still lose more.
The things that I have read here on the boards is to make sure you are getting in at least 64 oz of fluids, increase your protien and increase or change up your exercise a bit. Maybe that will shake things up a bit to get the scales moving again.
I think you are doing great!! Hang in there and keep following your plan. I know it's frustrating when the scales don't move. My pattern seems to be lose for a week to ten days, then don't lose for 2 weeks, then lose for a week or so, then don't lose for about 2 weeks. I hate those two weeks where I don't lose, but in a course of a month, it evens out to be about 8-10 lbs.
I just wanted to say Congrats on the weight loss so far, sounds like you have done great.

Your doing great! I agree that your body has to slow down occasionally. I remember reading once that when the scale is not moving it was because I was loosing inches, that our bodies cannot loose fat and shrink inches at the same time, I don't know if that's true or not, but it made me feel better :).
I know it can get frustrating, but stick to the plan and you will not fail.
Good luck,
Edie

Wow, you are doing great so my advice to you is stay off the scale.
You are not done losing weight until you say you are. Just keep exercising and following the rules and you will be at your goal size in the future. I say goal size cuz I don't weigh myself, I go by my clothes and yep, I exercise everyday.
This is not a race. Some people really have high expectations and want to lose all their weight by one year.
Well it took me almost 2 years to get to goal size 6/8.
So are you exercising? If so what's your program?
You aren't happy...so start being happy today, you are beautiful. You will get to goal. Start moving!

I'm only three months out and have already hit a stand still. A couple of them for that matter, but like everyone says the scale isn't going down, but my clothes size is. I'm doing measurements too and really have seen a difference there. I'm doing better not weighing myself every day, but it's so tempting. My clothes are all getting loose and I have saggy butt syndrome. No butt left at all, none, zip, nada. I need to find some pants that don't look like I've got a load in them!
Just stay positive and know you're doing just fine. You didn't put all the weight on in a short time, and it's better to take it off slower.
