Good morning all!

I had a cup of Caramel Apple Protein Cider this morning on the drive in.  Then coffee when I got to the office.  Breakfast is right around the corner.

QOTD - Yes, kinda.  I go in phases where I eat the same thing over and over... then I won't eat that again for several months and it'll be some new thing.  I haven't had a tortilla pizza in ages, but for a while there I was having it every single night for dinner.  Or the phase of grilled chicken breast and steamed broccoli.   Every week for lunches I cook a big pot/pan of something -- casserole, soup, salad -- and eat it every day for lunch and sometimes a couple times for dinner during the week.  Then I won't eat that thing again for a month or two.

Good Morning everyone!

I finished my coffee w/chocolate protien powder and a splash of SF carmel syrup and now I'm just about ready to have my breakfast which is carbmaster yogurt.

Tonight I am hosting the Bay City Support Group meeting and can't wait to see everyone.  Pam always runs a good meeting!

QOTD:  Funny you should ask that question because I was just thinking about that yesterday as Pam emailed us our homework for the meeting.  To think of something positive and something negative about our WL journey we need support with.  One of the things that I immediately thought of was I eat the same thing day in and day out.   Now I'm trying to decide if that's a positive thing or a negative thing :-)

For me, I'm still consistently losing so I guess it is a positive thing as it keeps me on track.  I know what I am eating every day, even thought it's the same thing over and over.  I always have a protien coffee first thing iin the morning.  Then I have Carbmaster yogurt for breakfast and sometimes add some cottage cheese to go with it.  For lunch, I do cottage cheese & fruit or a big salad.  For dinner it's usually chlli or refried beans.  or some type of meat I've cooked in the crockpot.

I guess for me, it's a positive thing, eating the same all the time, but in the long run, I want to allow myself more variety but I still have that fear of changing what I'm doing and causing my weight loss to stop. You know the saying...if it ain't broke, no need to fix it.....so I guess I'm going to keep eating the same things.

Sorry to ramble. :-)

Have a good day everyone!

Nan

Happy Wake up everyone!

Today I am having a banana and a FV protein in Hot Apple spice tea. I have to make a paste of the powder first. Could not find PamT's cider spice. So I will keep trying. Hope everyone is doing good today. Has any one heard from Pineview? Would everyone say a little prayer for her today since she lost her brother last week.
Good luck at the Docs. Brenda.

QOTD: I usually check the BSugar, then make the protein drink, then take my vitamins. How ever my two adult children seem to have forgotten how to fend for there selves for food. So they have a choice of instant oatmeal or cold cereal. The rest of the day I eat almost the same things, (chicken w/ salad) with a little twist here and there. But When DH gets in I always make some king of Beef, (roast stakes meat loaf) and those are my red meat days. I don't eat a lot of red meat because it make arthritis worse. I guess this will be changing in a few weeks after my surgery.

So it is off to the Best Buy store for me today. My DH's 3 month old computer has a cold or something. The H,8 and backspace keys won't work and the DVD/CD player wont work.
I check back later.

Have a superXPcalidosious Day!
How is that for a brainteaser/memorie jogger? LOL

Morning All,

Jumping on real quick from work.  Had computer issues at home, and it has been a pain.

Had my coffee and breakfast by 7 this morning, working on my 2nd 16 oz of water.  Then some carbmaster yogart.

QOTD - generally I eat the same stuff.  I generally have a banana when I get up in the morning and coffee on my drive, yogart about 10:30, some type of hearty soup for lunch, cottage cheese w fruit in the afternoon, and simple supper.   I try to have my daily protien in before supper, so  don't have to rely on a protien heavy meal.  If I don't, I will do a shake or another carbmaster yogart before I go to bed.  Trying to stay away from snack bars regardless if they are protien or not, they seem to be a downfall for me.  I need a crunch, lately it is carrots and celery.

Support group tonight, looking forward to going, I have missed every one since my leg/foot problem started.

I know it's not morning anymore, so GOOD AFTERNOON!
I had my usual decaf with half and half  and some Tim Horton Chili with a sprinkle of cheese for breakfast.  Just got off the treadmill and ready to go grocery shopping.
I tend to eat pretty much the same thing every day, chili, yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese, laughing cow cheese...cheese is my friend!  I never know what to eat for breakfast because I hate eggs/egg beaters, so it's usually chili or yogurt.
I hope everyone enjoys their day!
Good luck at the docs today Brenda

Have a great one,

Edie

Ok, so I am posting this here for the following reasons:
I am trying to not make a big deal of it, and I consider you guys my coffee klatch.  So I am imagining that we're all sitting around with our drinks and I'm just going to throw this out there.

First, today starts my road toward RNY revision.  I *think* I am going to have Dr. Katz from St. John do it.  I have to get another psych eval and an EGD.  I also have to get a note from my PCP.  So I'm starting on those things now.  If I do have surgery, I would like to do it before the end of Dec. because I've already paid my insurance deductible this year.

Second, Cost Plus World Market stores have started carrying SF Torani Pumpkin Pie flavored syrup.  I'm going to the Deuce (ann arbor) to pick some up!

So I'll update as things happen, but that's what's going on right now.

How did you "feel" w/ Dr. Katz? (I know U of M has pissed you off with their attitudes lately) Have you met any other patients of his?  How many revisions has he done?  Would it be the ROSE or oops I forgot the other procedure's name??  What options did he give you?

Sorry for all the questions, but I like to learn about new things, if you don't want to answer that's ok (not really :)) really!

I'm excited for you.

I don't mind questions at all.

First of all, we have to do the scope to confirm what he (and I) think is a stretched stoma.  I stopped losing at 1 year out, having never even been close to goal.  I consistently gain weight and don't have much restriction any more.

Ok, so he does do the Stomaphyx (he's only done a handful of those in Ohio).  I was not impressed with the little bit of research I saw on that and he said the most I could hope to lose from that is 15-20 lbs. and I need to lose around 70 more to be at a high goal weight.  He has done almost 20 revisions.  Providing there are no problems, it would be done lap. There are more risks of leaks with a revision because of the tissue involved (closer proximity to the esophagus) and the bigger staples.

The recovery and post-op are just like with the RNY.

I will know more about my exact issues when I get the EGD done.

ETA-I realized I didn't answer your first questions!  I really liked him.  He was honest with me about risks, etc.  His staff was really cool, too.   I was afraid of being judged, and that they would kind of treat me like I was crazy like at U of M.  I have not talked to anyone that he has done a revision on.

I can't believe that you can only expect to loose 15-20 lbs with this procedure, that seems like a rip off.  Since you'll have a new smaller, better and improved stoma, I'd expect a better result, do you know why it's not a better outcome than that?  Will it be easier for you to maintain after  that?  And lastly....at least for now, when is your EGD, and could anything he see's during that procedure change his mind about what procedure would work better for you ie: ROSE vs Stomaphyx or your expected outcome?
Thanks,
Edie
Oh yea.....does anyone do this in MI?!?
