Monday Coffee

So, I know it's late in the morning, and I often don't post on the Morning coffee thread because it's usually late morning before I get to even glance at OH, but I was thinking about starting today.  This seems like such a great community and I would love to be a more active part of it...

Anyway, to answer the question of the day:  Until about 3 years ago, I was a competitive figure skater (although I took about 7 years off at the end of high school and through college when I was busy playing competitive golf).  Anyway, getting back into figure skating is one of my post-surgery goals.  There's a pretty big adult skating community and I want to be apart of it, but where I am right now I certainly can't do the jumps and would struggle with some of the other stuff too.  But I've kind of made being able to compete again(which is what I love best!) a big goal for me, and it's good fitness too!

I hope my post isn't too late!

Sounds like a great goal.  I took figure skating lessons as a kid, but never competed.  Just did it because I loved doing it.  My dad used to flood the back yard when we were kids and we had a really nice rink out there.  Would skate every day.  Now I don't know if I could even stand on skates it's been so long.  Those were the good old days.  I think I'd have better luck getting back into horse back riding.

Where do you skate???  I'd love to get back into it.  I live in Clarkston, ironically I work a mile or so away from the DSC, and have never been there, do you ever go there?

Afternoon all,

Q: I'd like to try snow shoes this year, and maybe get brave and start skating again, that was a goal last year but I chickened out.  The docs told me this year should be easier on me as far as cold goes....we'll see.

Have a great day,

Edie
