I'm with a lot of you on the I seen thing and double negatives drive me crazy.  My mom was really a stickler for proper grammer and so am I.  My one son, a college grad mind you, always says 'I got' rather than I have.  I'm forever correcting him, and he's 30 years old!  My husband has the weird habit of adding a 't' to the end of words, for instance, cousint, telegrapht, husbandt,  I finally taught him library rather than libary and tylenol rather than tyenol.  I'm all about grammar, but have been known to use the f bomb on occasion for emphasis and shock factor.  I'm also against the use of 'gay' and 'retarded'   I could probably go on and on on this subject, but enough is enough.

Gotta get the laundry done, so see ya.

Morning,

Well I just had lunch...made pasta last night for family. So I had leftovers today... I am with you Brenda..on the ice tea.....I am addicted...and have introduced it to the grandbabies...bad nene, bad nene...

When we moved up here I was warned that the language was different than what I was used to hearing down south. I do find the ladies up here tend to use the F word a lot more than down south...I am thinking it is the work culture..more plants and men and women working together.
Oh wait that is 4 words....hehehe

I think the word I get a little annoyed with hearing right now is NO....granddaughter is turning 2 on the 24th of this month and her favorite word is No, Don't want to......

Hello all -

Busy morning today with a seminar first thing.  Missed breakfast and had to scramble for something when I got back.  Should have planned better.

QOTD -- "Can't"  ....  How do you know if you can't unless you try first?  It drives me nuts when I hear kids (or even adults) say they can't do something because it's too hard or they've never done it before or they never imagined it to be possible.  You CAN do it - all you have to do is try.

You CAN ride your bike 100 miles.  You CAN walk a 13.1 mile race.  You CAN get up and speak in front of an audience.  You CAN go back to school and get a degree even if you're 40 years old.  You CAN research information on the internet and learn more about your surgery and how your body works now.   You CAN write a story about your WLS journey.

Pam - that reminds me of something a former boss said to me once:

"before you tell me why we CAN'T do it, tell me how we CAN"... that has stuck in my mind ever since.  It definitely changed my attitude when it came to looking at how to do new things.

Good Afternoon!
I'm running behind this morning.  I had my son take me to the store to get veggies & fruit and goodies for when I got home tomorrow.  When he said he hadn't ran the dish washer in the two weeks I've been gone that only means one thing . . the GD and son are eating out every night so nothing in the house.

I am going to miss being taken care of by my parents here at "Club Med" . . I guess at 75 years old I should be taking care of them.  But they love it.

QOTD- I dislike the word "hate" and retarded"   . . I am also guilty of dropping the "f" bomb for shock factor but never in front on my kids . . . usually in telling a joke or when I'm with my sisters. . . if I ever did it in front of my parents they would sprinkle me with holy water . . . lol

Enjoy the day!

Check out this site if you have time:
http://www.r-word.org/

Using the R word upsets me on a personal level.  My oldest son is, in fact, mentally retarded.  Retard means to slow down....as in flame retardant, etc.  So yes, technically, his mental capacity is retarded.  But, for someone to call another person a retard, or say "that's so retarded" just makes me so sad.  We've had kids over our house to play with my youngest son, and they obviously see his brother, and then joke and say things like that.  Goes right along with making the joke "You should be on the short bus"..etc.  It's not funny, but I do think so many people use it, and most of them don't really mean any harm.  It's a shame that a lot of people don't think about the words they use.  Same thing with calling someone or something gay as a derogatory term.

On a funnier note, I talk like a friggin' truck driver (except at work) but I would never, ever, ever say anything like that around my parents.  The other day I said "pissed off" in front of my dad and I was waiting to get my mouth washed out with soap!

Can I add something to the words we don't like?
I am so tired of seeing "WOOT WOOT".  Who the heck says that, anyway?  I can see Woohoo! or something, but WOOT?  WTH?

Oh yeah, and I also realized that my purse was black, and so was my coat, so the only thing that really messed up the outfit was this dang blue sweater!

Who wants to go shopping?  I need some gray shoes and a brown purse!

Thanks for the good reading.  You just crack me up!

I would love to shop . . . maybe before I head back to work in mid November I will head down to the mall!
