Good Thursday morning, everyone!
What's brewing in your mug this AM? Decaf and black for me, as always... This week has flown by.
Get to Grandma-sit later today. It is the bright spot in my week when Colin is here. He is laughing and smiling big time, now..
QOTD-loved the post yesterday about phrases or words you want to hear more often. I agree with most of them. Now, what words do you don't want to hear or hear less of?
I no longer want to hear or see the "F" word. It is getting to be so mainstream and it's sad that it's the only way some celebs or people can express themselves. I also get annoyed with the expression "shut-up" used other than what it is intended. I also get annoyed with "UMM"
UMMM, so have a good one :-)

Hi everyone,
Looks like rain this afternoon for us and it's cold too!

Drove DD to her new job today or should I say I let her drive so she would learn the route. She did well with a few glitches. She will be able to go it alone tomorrow.
Got home and made my chocolate almond protein drink. What's in your cup?

QOTD: "Man Awe Man. hey man sup?" Calling a person man expecially when it is me.
this was just on foxNews today how appropriate.

'Whatever' Tops Most Annoying Word Poll

Updated: Wednesday, 07 Oct 2009, 9:09 PM EDT
Published : Wednesday, 07 Oct 2009, 9:09 PM EDT

So, you know, it is what it is, but Americans are totally annoyed by the use of "whatever" in conversations.

The popular slacker term of indifference was found "most annoying in conversation" by 47 percent of Americans surveyed in a Marist College poll released Wednesday.

"Whatever" easily beat out "you know," which especially grated a quarter of respondents. The other annoying contenders were "anyway" (at 7 percent), "it is what it is" (11 percent) and "at the end of the day" (2 percent).

"Whatever" -- pronounced "WHAT'-ehv-errr" when exasperated -- is an expression with staying power. Immortalized in song by Nirvana ("oh well, whatever, nevermind") in 1991, popularized by the Valley girls in "Clueless" later that decade, it is still commonly used, often by younger people.

It can be an all-purpose argument-ender or a signal of apathy. And it can really be annoying. The poll found "whatever" to be consistently disliked by Americans regardless of their race, gender, age, income or where they live.

"It doesn't surprise me because 'whatever' is in a special class, probably," said Michael Adams, author of "Slang: The People's Poetry" and an associate professor of English at Indiana University. "It's a word that -- and it depends how a speaker uses it -- can suggest dismissiveness."

Adams, who was not involved in the poll and is not annoyed by "whatever," points out that its use is not always negative. It also can be used in place of other, neutral phrases that have fallen out of favor, like "six of one, half dozen of the other," he said.

But the negative connotation might explain why "whatever" was judged more annoying than the ever-popular "you know," which was recently given a public workout by Caroline Kennedy during her flirtation with the New York U.S. Senate seat vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton. "You know," Adams notes, is a way for speakers to seek assent from others.

Pollsters at the Poughkeepsie, N.Y. college surveyed 938 U.S. adults by telephone Aug. 3-Aug 6. The margin of error is 3.2 percentage points. The five choices included were chosen by people at the poll discussing what popular words and phrases might be considered especially annoying, said spokeswoman Mary Azzoli.

Crazy thoughts while driving at 4 am this morning.
Do you ever think about off the wall stuff? What is it? How Plausible is it?
I have a theory that they are building the international space station, so that they can transport all the powers that be up there. They will be able to beam you right out of your shoes with a laser if they don't like what you do. And The powers that be will take all of your rights away. Normal folk won't be able to revolt, because of no way to fight outer space.
And my other theory is that  Every time they send up a space shuttle It knocks the earth of of it trajectory and causes bad weather.
The ISS will be completed in 2085, so big that it will look like a small planet that you can see with your naked eye, Could it happen? Don't know Hope I won't be her to see it.

OK The Word "DORK" comes to mind here. LOL

well, I use all of those annoying words and phrases in my normal speech and when my kids are not around I use the "f" word wayy too much as well....especially in typing.

I sort of feel like I shouldn't talk anymore.

The things that annoy ME are the common everyday use of the word "gay" ...That's SO gay!

I am also NOT a fan of the interchanging of the words "saw" and "seen"...I seen you yesterday.

I have a friend who always says AND types "thank" in place of "think"

OHHH and my number 1 pet peeve in texting is   "ne" or "ne1" for "any" or "anyone"

well, WHATever, at the end of the day it's about Fing time I got those off my chest.  (ha ha ha ha)

Good Morning Deb and all.

I'm at work, drinking another iced tea.  See a pattern here?  Bad day at work?  Stress relief with iced tea.  I guess it has replaced my egg mcmuffin habit of long ago.  I will have to stop soon...too much Sweet N Low can't be good for me.

QOTD-I am a habitual offender of all of the things Deb mentioned.  I am normally pretty quiet, so I use profanity to convey just how upset I am.  I also use "shut up" in place of "you're kidding!" and similar expressions.  The word I'm hating now is WHATEVER.  My son says that to me all the time.  It's basically his word for F-off.  Also, I still can't stand to hear mispronounced words.  My boss today has already said "Substract" the cost from the price, use your mouse to "Clink" on that page, and, the best one.....she said one of the sales guys was "Grunging around".  I have no idea what that means.  Ok, I will quit complaining now and let you quit reading.

PS-I have an urgent question I need answered.  I am wearing my new royal blue argyle sweater and gray pants.  I was running late, and couldn't find any shoes that matched.  I have one pair of black, one pair of brown.  I went with black, but I look like a crazy bag lady.  What color shoes do you wear with blue and gray??

Brenda, you crack me up!!!!!

I would have chosen black to wear with gray & blue.....so I guess I must look like a bag lady too - LOL.

Black shoes with gray pants.  The blue sweater doesn't count since it's not near your shoes.

Morning Deb & eeryone,

I just had some fruit & veggies for breakfast and will have a protien coffe in an hour or so.  I normally have protien for breakfast but during quarter close, they bring food in and the fruit & veggie trays looked so good!

QOTD:  I have to admit, I am also guilty of saying the F-word too casually.  I have been working on changing that though.  What drives me nuts is people using the wrong word like "I seen"  instead of I saw"  or "We was" instead of We were" .....drives me nuts...this one lady at work is always doing that and I so badly just want to correct her!

Have a good day everyone!
