Hey boxermom-mornin' and happy hump day!!!
Awake a lot of the night last night listening to the wind! Wonder how many trees and stuff are on the ground. Have some power outages around here. Thank goodness it wasn't here.
Just getting ready to have my black decaf. So good.
QOTD-I have to agree that "thank you" needs to be heard more often as well as "please." Manners and politeness are not taught much these days it seems. I tried to be sure my kids were polite to others. My son always says he is the "polite elephant" (A Richard Scary character).
Two little words that go a long ways..

I had my coffee already.  I got 6 hours of sleep last night and ate 1/2 c. soup.  Things might be looking up.  I didn't make it to the doctors yesterday.  My ex and his mom said I looked sickly.  That's just their opinion I guess.  I am supposed to call back the doctor in 20 min.  If and when I figure out why I can't eat or sleep I will let you know.

QOTD:  I agree with the manners.  Please and Thank You!  I would like to add, "Proud" as in I am proud of you, etc.  I try to use it on my kids and it makes them so happy.

Good morning!  Watching Biggest Loser from last night and drinking my coffee.  I'm thinking about making some oatmeal in a bit, before Dub wakes up.  Power's not out here, surprisingly.  We used to lose our power a LOT out here.  All my neighbors have generators (we have 5 in our immediate area) so when the power goes out, you can hear all the generators running.  We keep saying we're going to get one, but have yet to do that.

QOTD:  I wish people would say to me more often, "You've won a million dollars!"  Now those are words I could stand to hear!  LOL!  Seriously, I agree with others.  When I was teaching, I was always surprised at the informal nature our language has taken.  I'm guilty of it, as well, but I believe that words are very powerful and there is a skill in mastering the correct use of the degrees of their meaning.  Does that make sense?  Obviously, I'm still working on mastering that skill...LOL!

Edited to add:
One of the skills we focused on in writing was WORD CHOICE and how it affects the "voice" of your writing.  My students would always be amazed at how one word could affect the "picture" they were painting with their words.  I'm just saying....

Good Morning Michiganders.

I woke early 4 am to take my baby girl (21) to her fist real job. It is in Dexter Michigan. She has not had much long distance driving experience. since it was the first time for her to go there, I offered to go and help her with the directions. So we got there in the dark 40 minutes early. Supper Mom to the rescue again. I am just so good.  Or over protective. ???

QOTD: EXCUSE ME, PLEASE. This would be nice to hear in the mall or the store or where ever.
So many times I have been shopping with no one around and stopped to examine something and from out of know where a person will walk right in front of me and stand there, with out a word. Or some people who just have to be ahead of anybody else. It drives me nutz!

Any ways the new sign for the Cider mill will be white back ground with the same MI and OH logos on it and the same Words. Could not get on printed at the printer in time. so I had my darling daughter make one. that was her fee for the early AM drive to work. lol

Thank You!
Mary

Good Morning Michiganders :)

I do feel that words are important but I would like to say the first thing  thought of when I read this.   I just wish that more people would SMILE.....look right at you and SMILE with sincerity.

Good Morning!
I am working on a protein hot chocolate this morning.

QOTD- When my kids were little we called "manners" the "magic words".   When they would go sleep at friends they would tell me what toys they packed and that they had their "magic words" . . . please, thank-you, excuse me, your welcome . . etc.   In fact my beautiful daughter just wrote a children's book called "Your Magic Words" . . I believe that no matter how educated you are and how many degrees you have . . mean nothing if your not polite!  So my answer today is all maners!

Enjoy the day!

Sup B.  I'm at work drinking a Starbucks iced tea.  It was my reward for having to come in to this carnival of idiocracy today.

QOTD-I want to hear more words said CORRECTLY.  There are no such words as prolly, sposta, and if you are trying to say specific, please don't say pacific.  The world would be a much nicer place if everyone wasn't trying to drive me insane.  And what's up with the Mary Poppins today?  Now you have me singing the Barney "Please and Thank You" song.  Ughghghghgh.

Ok, I'm off to the post office.  Maybe I'll be happier when I get back!

Hello all!

I gotta say... the best therapy in the world is a shiny sink.  I shoveled out the kitchen last night, washed every dirty dish in the house and shined my sink.  For those of you who follow the FlyLady cleaning system - you know that a clean sink is the first step to world peace.  Felt good to get up this morning and not be faced with the mess.  Now the living room is next on the hit list.

QOTD -- Yes, "Thank you" is a good choice for this one.  But I'd also add "Love".  I think too often we forget to tell the ones we love that we love them.  Yes, they know we love them - but sometimes it's just nice to hear the words said out loud.

I wholeheartedly agree with Pam.  I heard my daughter on the phone with her dad and she said "love you" when she hung up.  I asked her why she didn't say that to me, and she said because I didn't say it to her, so now I make a point of telling her "love you" at least every other time I talk to her.  My son is pretty good at saying it, but I try now to say it first with him also.

I LOVE clean sinks!  clean windows are the next important!
