United Health Care Covering Sleeve

Just wanted to let everyone know...My I talked to my doctor's office today. Debbie informed me that United Health Insurance is now covering the sleeve! Great news, and I'm waiting for BCBS to follow suit. There is a rumor that they will. I'm scheduled for Lapband revision to RNY Dec. 29th, unless they will cover the sleeve as that is my first choice...

Hmmm.  I talked to the insurance person at Dr. Hawasli's office ....there is going to be a code issued for the Sleeve, but that doesn't mean it will be covered - it's just for billing purposes.  I was devasted when I found out I couldn't do the sleeve (BMI must be 50+) but now I am embracing the RNY.

I honestly don't think that it's going to be covered any time soon - there isn't enough long term data on it to satisfy the insurance companies - which is a shame - because I think it's a great procedure.
