I live in Harper Woods.

I just made an appointment with Dr. Kerry Kole for October 22.  I am so excited that I finally decided to take this step.  I originally wanted the VSG - went and got my psychiatric evaluation done - went to see Dr. Hawasli - only to find out that my insurance won't cover the sleeve unless BMI is 50+   .....mine is 42.  I was devastated.

But now I am embracing the idea of RNY .......hope I dont have to jump too many hoops

Hi, my surgeon is Dr. Kerry Kole too!  I am having RNY this coming up Monday...very scared, and excited too.  I also wanted the VSG but was denied by my insurance...so RNY it is.  My BMI is 42 also!

Welcome to the board Suzy!  How did you like Dr. Hawasli?

I didn't spend enough time with him to really form an opinion.  I mean he seems nice enough.  His partner, Dr. Meguid - seems pretty neat.  I went to a seminar that he put on.

Thanks for the welcome!

Suzy,

Welcome to the Michigan board.

I had the rny also, any questions... ask away.  You may also want to check out the rny board, it's a very active and helpful group.

Good luck with your journey,

Edie

Hi Suzy and welcome!

My DD was trying to get the VSG.  Her insurance just denied her but her BMI is over 50.  She wants to fight but, the insurance person at my clinic isn't willing to help her.  She isn't the same lady that was so helpful when I went thru.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
