just a new girl...
Hi all... I'm Lori and I'm 29 (about to turn 30 in two weeks, yuck) and I am currently struggling with my weight. I have made a lot of changes recently and it's taking its toll. I just moved to Michigan from Pittsburgh about 7 months ago, and I am an emotional eater and with missing my friends and family so much, I eat to "feel better" but it does help DAH lol
I had my surgery May 2007 and started at 316 lbs, before I moved here I was down to 180 lbs (which I wasn't totally happy with, but content) and now I'm back up to about 215 lbs and I'm feel so disappointed and down. I am eating way too much junk and I'm back to always feeling hungry, I have decided to try to 5 day pouch test and get a jump start. Please if anyone has any other ideas, don't hesitate to offer some suggestions. I don't really have a lot of support here since I just moved and it's tough to deal with this along... thanks for reading :)

Lori,
Welcome to Michigan! We all struggle with our weight -- that's why we've had WLS. The 5 day pouch test is a good start, then try journaling everything you eat.....stay at 1200 calories, 60 plus grams of protein (or more if you can) and 30-40 gm. of fat. Drink all your 64 oz. of water/fluids every single day. Find a support group in your area and GO! There are people there who will be glad to have you join and will give you the confidence and support to get back on track.
You can do this - believe in yourself.
Good luck and God Bless,
Pat R.

Done! Your Ticker:
Hey Lori,
At least the weather here won't be a shock to you!
This is a good place to find support.
If you want to attend a support group meeting, here is one that isn't too far from Belleville:

Good Luck with the pouch test...it's hard to do! I actually gained 3 lbs. right after doing it!

Hi Lori,
Doesn't it SUCK that we now have to diet AGAIN? I hate that people think we have it easy, when in fact we have it the same. I did not like the 5 day pouch test at all. Its too limited and its stuff I wouldn't normally eat as far as protein. What I'm trying to do to get back on track is to get a lunch box, then put in it every meal and snack for the day. even if you stay home all day. That way you know what you can have and its harder for you to stray. You need to do what someone suggested and make sure you have the protein and calories you need for the day. I would not pack carbs, just if they are in bean form or chili, etc. I make a pot of yummy chili and freeze it in portions. Also, start walking. do the mall or around the block and each night add 5 more minutes. I do a half hour and that helps me maintain, especially when i break down and eat mac and cheese. I know, is it really worth it? not really....
I sound like i am the perfect wls patient, right? Nope! I will have to do the above at least once a month cuz those friggin carbs scream my name.
good luck

Hi Lori,
Welcome to Michigan!
The best suggestion I can make is to do something like Fitday.com. I'm amazed at how fast the cal's can add up! I'll track what I've eaten every once in a while just as a reminder, of how every little bite adds up to a big number of cals' :(.
By the way we're having a get together on Oct 10th at Yates Cider Mill. Check out the thread from a few weeks ago for info, we'd love to see you there.
