Finally Home!! (long)
I just want to thank everyone first that left me messages and I'm just going to copy and paste this from my blog, it's getting late and I'm getting tried and till need to eat dinner.
Well I finally got released Sat at 1PM It's been a very long week!!
So, I woke up from surgery on Monday and felt great!!! DH got into the same room a couple hours later and was also doing great!! So of course they wanted to get us walking, great let's do that!!! Guess not, just sitting in bed my heart rate is 130, they get me up and walking (10 feet to the door) and tell me I have to get back in bed NOW, heart rate is 170!! Tachycardia!!! No real idea why but maybe I'm dehydrated, so lets pump more fluids and try agian. Well to say the least the fluids didn't help and I was stuck in bed
Tuesday is a new day and I feel like crap!!! DH is feeling better and walking but here I am suck in bed and my head is spinning and my back is killing!! I can'****ch TV, it's just not working with my head. I go for the swallow test and want to pass out, heart rate 150 the whole time, but I get word 8 hours later (they had a back-up) that we are both fine and can be taken taken off the pain pump (which diladin really sucks, does NOTHING for the pain and just makes you sleepy, which is what I tried to do most of Tuesday was sleep) So I can start loratap and that stuff is good, takes away the pain and doesn't make you sleepy. DH can start clears and I'm stuck on ice chips due to pancreatitis. I was also informed that my blood level went from 14 to 8 and they have idea why, maybe just need fluids some more. So in short I lost 40% of my blood supply and they have NO idea why!!!
Wednesday I wake up and I'm in terrible pain in my back! To the point that I still have 1 1/2 hours till next pain med and I can feel my heart rate going up just from the pain. Now remember I'm still stuck in bed due to my HR being 130, So I get the meds early and Drs orders them for every 3 hours!! Thank you God!!! I get through Wed w/ the meds and had an ultrasound of my pancreaus, and a blood transfussion, feeling a little better (aleast I'll let the kids come visit that night vs last) DH is doing great could've went home but he loves me and the Dr says he can stay another night!! So when kids are getting ready to leave I start getting gas movements and decide to push the kids a little faster to get OUT!! They leave and I go and man (TMI WARNING) it was explosive and red!! Really red!! I have another BM w/in the hour and it's the same!! But then I'm good to sleep the night and I really feel better (blood transfusion is helping). Another Dr happened to be near the room when I had my BM's and ordered another transfusion but this time my IV goes bad (and did I forgot to tell you I have terrible vains!!) Takes 3 tries to get the IV started again, it's midnight by the time the transfussion is done.
Thursday the Dr comes in later in the day and orders another transfuion, my blood level is still only 9 and ups me to clears finally!!! I have a GI bleed and it should heal by day 5 on it's own. I can finally get out of bed though and take short walks and by the end of the day I'm up to a small lap. Had a couple more explosive BM's mid day then a couple not so red ones!! I get moved to full liquids and DH is set free but he loves me soo much he stays the night on a fold out chair/cot (didn't look comfy :o( I also had my drain and cath taken out finally!!
Friday I'm doing great!!! Doing laps every hour and no new BM's just some REAL stinky gas but Dr wants to hold me till Sat to 'make sure we're good to go and I finally leave at 1pm on Sat!!! Feeling pretty good right now just a little tight in the belly area.
Thank you for reading and all you great toughts I'm really thankful

Sorry to hear you had so many problems - it was great your DH was there with you the whole time too - and him sleeping on a cot? OMG - he must REALLY love you! That couldn't have been comfy for him at all.

He really is the greatest. It's funny cuz I thought he would be a big baby but he stepped right up and started doing what he could for me seeing he was 3 days ahead of me on everthing. I'm really going to have to think of something great to pay him back!!
Thanks for the kind words

Wow, you had a rough time! I'm glad you've been released and are doing fine. My DH decided that the chair was just too uncomfortable to stay over with me, but he did visit as much as he could! You've got a great DH, hold onto him! How wonderful that you can go through this journey together. Welcome to the losers bench.

I had a post op bleed too, not fun. Didn't have any transfusions though..... because they thought I was a Jehovah's Witness. By the time they figured out that I was not, my hemoglobin went up .1 so they new my bleed had healed.
It took well over 6 months for my hemoglobin and ferritin to get back in the normal range (and that was eating meat 4-5 x's a week and doing iron and c twice a day). So stay on top of that, make sure they follow you closely.
Hope everything else goes well for you post op, cause you've already passed one big challenge.
