tummy tuck

Could anyone tell me about what they had to pay out for a tummy tuck.  I have insurance but it doesn't cover plastics.  I know I am a ways out from it.  But it is going to take me a long time to save and I was just wondering a ball park price.  Something to dream about...... :) Thanks

Even if your insurance doesn't cover "plastics" --- be sure when you inquire about it that you never mention the words "plastic surgery" or "comestic surgery" -- those terms imply an elective procedure that is not medically necessary.  When you talk to the insurance about it, always call it "reconstructive surgery"... when we have excess skin that causes other medical problems it becomes a medically necessary procedure that is often covered by insurance.

I don't know the answer to your question.... just wanted to throw that out there for you as you go forward.

My insurance will pay for my hernia repair but not the tummy tuck.  I'll end up paying about $5000 for mine.  At least that's the contract from the surgeon/hospital.  I'll pay about $3000 for the surgeons fee and another 2100 for the extra OR and Anesthia time.  It will be about a 5 hour procedure.

Yikes,  Thanks for the response.  I think I really need to start saving now....  I am hoping my insurance will pick up part of the tab, but I am doubtful.
