Sunday mroning java
Good Morning everyone!I am up earlier than usual on my only day off this week because my twelve year old gent is sick.I am going to take him to the walk in clinic in Cadillac today they don't open until 12 though. My hubby had it first.I also have it but my lil guy has asthma when he gets a respiratory infection I don't waste time.He gets to sick to quick.I am having fuly loaded regular so is my lil guy.My mom got all her grand kids who were born before she passed to like coffee. She wouldn't give it to us though stating it would stunt our growth. So my QOD is for the grandparents. What do you allow your grandchildren to eat or do that you would never allow the children to do?I am sure this will get some good ones.My mom also let them eat cake and ice cream for breakfast.I never understood this and probably won't until I have some grandchildren running around(my step daughter has a three month old). But I sure miss my mom.I wish hse was here to teach my kids some more bad food choices, lol.
I will answer for my mother. She is strict about them eating good and finishing their plates. My dad will buy them chips and pop, but since I no longer buy that I guess it's ok. My mom bakes a lot but the kids are not like I was. I was into baked goods not the salty things. They won't eat sweets. But she often will tell the kids they can do something I just said they can't. One example is playing in the rain. Since she is my next door neighbor we see each other all the time, so this can be both a good and challenging thing :)

Good morning. I just got up and haven't even gotten my coffee yet. Trying to decide if I want to brave the 40 degee temps or just hop on the elliptical in the living room.
QOTD: My kids didn't grow up around their grandparents. My daughter did until she was 4, then we moved north. They don't have a close relationship with them. If they saw them 4-5 times a year, that was a lot, so I don't really have an answer...
My mother was the same way regarding coffee, snacking, etc (with us kids)... I think she would have been more lenient with the grandkids - mainly because she could.

good morning every one
It is a *****ile here had to turn on the heat last night. Getting in gear to fix my potion! (protein) Yep that is right I am feeling kind of witchy this morning.
Hubby came in from TX yesterday and left on an errand for me. I set Him up to Hawks MI to get our stuff out of a barn we are renting to store it. Mostly tools and yard stuff.
If any one is interested in a lawn tractor. that was only used once and a log splitter only used a few hours. please let me know. I don't know what else he has up there but I know that some of it will need to go. cause we don't have the room for it here. If you are interested please pm me.
QOTD: My parents passed in my children's early yrs. and Ken's parents are distant both emotionally and by location. so my children have been grandparent free all there life. How ever they have adopted the neighbors across the street. but it is not like your own real ones.
One of the last gifts my father gave my son was a candy cane when he was 3 months old. He just wanted to get that sticky stuff all over his cute cloths. Funny but I never new my Grandparents either, they passed before I was born. Must have been that hereditary healthy life style they all Practiced. So be thankful that you and your children have Grand parents if you do
and Cherish the moments.

Gary came up this weekend. Had a really nice time. He misses me.... He bought a used Garden Tractor, which is our anniversary present to each other. I spent yesterday riding it. It's pretty fun actually. Too bad I didn't know about yours Mary. We rented a log splitter last year when we had some trees cut down. Don't know if hubby would be interested in buying one or not. We've got enough wood to keep us going for a couple of years I think.
QOTD: I'm not a grand yet, but give me another 3 months. I'm thinking I'll probably let him get crazy and all keyed up and then send him home. I wont be doing all the junk food stuff like my grands did, but I will play with him alot and keep him active and do things together. Hopefully I'll see him enough so that he'll come to know me well. They're three hours away now, so I just can't tell what will happen.
Have a great sunny Sunday.

I have 2 sons left at home and I have 2 grandaughters I see often. I usually make them eat good foods but every once in a while I let them junk it up. It makes for good memories. And really if you think about it compair the surgar in cake and poptarts. Both are chuck full of sugar and everything bad for you. Poptarts are usually exceptable and so are sugar cereals.
I think as long as they have normal foods most of the time. Ice cream and cake are fine.
