Where I am now in this journey
I haven't posted since I went to my psych evaluation on the 4th of this month. I haven't heard any results yet, but still patiently waiting and praying.
But, since I went to the psych evaluation, I have been in touch with the Barix clinic and their financial department. The lady that is working on getting all the info they need to submit it to our insurance called me last week and told me that our insurance requires me to have a 6 month doctor supervised diet. My first reaction was I was mad and started to cry. I asked her how come no one told me about this 2 months ago when I went to the seminar and talked to them at the clinic. I could have been going and had 2 months already under my belt. But.......actually it is ok. I wasn't mad long. My sweet daughter informed me that "Mom, it's only 6 months, you can do it. It isn't like it's that long!!" So, I began to think about it and I'm ok with it. This way I wont be getting surgery during the winter months. That is a good thing since we live a little over 3 hours away.
Today I had my first doctor apointment and it went really good. My regular doctor wont be in the office till November (she is working at the hospital for 2 months). Anyways, I was worried about going to this doctor because she isn't my regular doctor, but she was AWESOME!! She said she backs me up 100% and was praising me for doing this for myself!! She said she will do whatever is needed to help me through these next 6 months!! YEAH!!!!
So, that is where I am right now in this journey.
I am soooooooo excited!! I can't wait for this next part of this journey to WLS is over.
Thank you to all who are following me and encouraging me!!
God Bless,

I know how you must have felt when you heard you had to do the 6-mo supervised diet, but good for you for putting the anger aside and moving forward!! The time will fly by!! Seriously, It was a year ago this month that I went to my first WLS seminar. Although I wanted the surgery and wanted it now, I had to go through all the steps to get there and here it is now, a year later...the time has flown by!
Before you know it, you'll be approaching your surgery date and saying 'wow, I can't believe it's here already'
Glad your appointment went so well and they are 100% backing you on your decision.

At first when I began my physician supervised weight loss plan I wasn't going to have surgery (I didn't need it you know :) ), so I did the supervised portion for well over 18 months, I think that deprivation (LOL), let me know I could be successful during this journey.
Good luck, we're here for you,

She has to go thru everything again as it has been over a year. She contacted her insurance to find out the requirements. Her BMI is over 50. She thought she had meet everything and than the insurance person told her she has to do more stuff, for her insurance, not the center. So, she is unsure where she is at.
I had to do the 12 month diet history so I know exactly how you feel. Well... I was a lot more bitter and angry than you seem to be, so that's good that you're facing this in a positive way.
Use this time to learn as much as you can, read everything you can get your hands on, get involved here on OH and in a local support group, talk to veterans, read, read, read. Knowledge is power and the more you know about life after surgery, how your body works and what hurdles you'll likely face... the more successful you will be.
