First Cold Post-Op

I am sick with my first head cold post-op.  I am miserable.  I usually get up anywhere from 4-6 am, closer to 4.  Anyway I slept in, barely got the kids ready and off, then back to bed.  Here I am now up finally.  I have an appointment to go to.  I want to cancel but I'll give it a try.  So my question is what can I take for this cold?  I haven't had to worry about taking medications after surgery until now (well other than my lithium).  Thanks.

Jimi

BTW:  Psychologist & psychiatriast appts went well yesterday.  The psychiatrist is putting me back on abilify.  I was on 6 meds for my depression/anxiety/bipolar pre-op and was doing so well after surgery that I am down to just lithium.   I don't know whether to believe the psychiatrist because this isn't his specialty, but he said inadequate protein is probably causing some of the mood problems too.

I would take tylenol cold.  I am sure it was one on my med list.  They have one that is liquid that is not to awful tasting.

I am a big believer in Zicam also.  My colds always seem to turn into broncitits, but last year I was faithful with Zicam every time I started not feeling well, and I didn't get it.  First time in 5 years with no broncitis.

Hope you feel better soon.

Pam

Thanks!  I had to leave after posting this so I didn't get an answer.  On the road I called the doctors office and wasn't treated very nice about my question.  The nurse or whoever snapped at me to just take what I always take. I just said thanks and hung up.  One of the problems is I have an antihistimine allergy so before surgery I just waited it out until I needed an antibotic.  I guess that's what I will continue doing.  I was worried about taking pills with a RNY since the only experience I have in doing that is the lithium.  Jimi

And you were right in questioning what to take - Tylenol products (I was told) was the only thing to take.  You CANNOT take what you used to take prior to surgery - and the answer you got was totally wrong.  I'm surprised a professional would tell you that.

Hope you're feeling better soon.
