Sunday Stuff
Happy Sunday Michiganders!
It's good -- Michigan beat Notre Dame yesterday.....hurrah!
I've been cooking since age 6 or so.....being the oldest girl in a family of four kids, it fell to me to help my Mom. She was a terrific cook and I guess I learned that from her.....I love to cook and everyone always compliments me on the taste......that's how I got to be over 300 lbs. as well!!!! Now I get a lot of good WLS friendly recipes from BariatricEating.com......great recipes -- check them out. I give them to my neighbor and they can't believe they're low calorie and healthy.
I love to tweek regular recipes to make them WLS friendly.....it can be done without changing the taste and texture.....like replacing oil with unsweetened applesauce, and using whole wheat or almond flour in place of white, and of course splenda for real sugar.
Have a great Sunday and relax and enjoy.

Done! Your Ticker:
Happy Sunday, Michigan. What a beautiful day today is. I am home working on the computer on something that should be done at work, but my computer there crashed so I have to bring all this stuff home, which I resent, especially on such a beautiful day.
QOTD-Do you know how to cook well? If so, how did you learn?
I can follow a recipe but I have no sense of adventure and don't know how to season or mix things to taste good together. As a matter of fact, went to Mongolian Grill yesterday and wasted money because I don't know how to spice the food to make it taste good and ended up with a plate of bland seafood. Would much rather go somewhere where they season the food for you.

Went church shopping this morning. Since I've moved I now need to find a new church. No one will compare with my old Pastor Chris so it's going to be hard. I went to church with my cousins from the other end of the lake. It was nice, close to the same atmosphere as my church down state, but not as good. Just not the same...
QOTD: I think I'm a pretty good cook. The only thing people complain about is when I try to make a meatloaf. It comes out different every time. I used one of those package seasonings things one time and it was actually good. Hubby loves meatloaf and sometimes he loves mine and sometimes it's bland. I love to cook with garlic, but hubby's system doesn't tolerate it well, and he knows when I sneak it into the foods. Today my brother and I are having venison loin marinated in a garlic italian type dressing. We're going to cut it into medallions and do it on the grill. Yummy. I hope my pouch tolerates it ok. I had corn on the cob yesterday and did ok. I also love to bake, but now, since I can't have anything, I don't have the desire to do so. Hubby is overweight so he shouldn't be eating that kind of stuff either. When I make molasses cookies they're gone in 3 days, so I've quit making them. Anyone have a good weightloss friendly meatloaf recipe?

My mom makes a meatloaf from Marth Stewart that has shredd. carrots and lots of other veggies in it. It might be on her website, I would think you could make it 1/2 ground round and 1/2 turkey or other low fat meat. I remember one time she made meatloaf and it bounced when it hit the ground( a piece of it) because there was so little fat in it, the dog we had wouldn't even eat it. Generally though she is an awsome cook.
I have had this one it is good

Hey Jan,
I don't know if you are a traditional meatloaf lover.......me, I'm a 30 minute meals kind of gal. Here is what I always make for the boys. It's fast and yeah, it doesn't taste like it cooked for 1.5 hours, but it's quick and pretty yummy.

Thanks, I went to the site and read the recipe then the reviews. The first couple of reviews said it wasn't the best meatloaf, but good in a pinch basically. Then another one said that Paula Deen's Basic Meatloaf recipe was really good. I think I'm going to try that this weekend made with venison, which is much leaner than beef. I'll let you know how it is. Could probably make the patties like Rachael Ray does and use the gravy. I like mine with ketchup tho, not gravy.
