It's Friday Coffee
Today my dtr Sierra turns 12. At her request we are grilling steaks. First I never grill, and obviously I don't know how so wish me luck. I never tried steak post op is it too soon? I always order the kid's cakes but I made Sierra cupcakes today. Her favorite color is orange so I made it a Halloween color combo. Orange and Black. She is getting contacts after school so she is excited. I picked blackberries and plan on making muffins later. On Sat I don't know yet. Probably go to some rummage sales that are still lingering. Sunday Cheyenne turns 8. So again with the cupcakes. I went with pink/black combo for her. She is getting littlest pet shop stuff. So that's pretty much it. Birthday weekend. Cheyenne was born right after 9/11 so this day always holds a place in my heart.

1. Name you favorite food right now? Of all time? salads
2. Give a shameless plug of your WLS surgeon: Dr. Wayne English is just so wonderful. I am a little sad that my post op vists now are with the wls staff doctor because I miss him. I should go to more support groups though, he is always there unless there is an emergency.
3. Crystal Light or Koolaid? I don't like either one. My doctor told me to try sf koolaid to see if I like it better. I have yet to do that.
4. Hamburger or Hotdog? pre-surgery it was def. hamburgers. Now I can't tolerate them. On occasion I have a half a hot dog and for the most part we get along.
5. Give an example of how you "Pay It Forward": not really sure.

Jimi,
Here's a good link on how to grill a steak. I am hopeless on the grill too, but I'm teaching myself.
Happy birthday to the girls!

GLAD it's Friday!
QOTD: big plans - well, some of you might think I'm nuts, but my brother and I are going to the shooting range this weekend; I'm very excited! I don't think I've ever really seen a gun in real life, much less shot one. But, I mentioned to my brother that I thought it would be fun and he had been thinking about it too - so we're going! They teach you (a little) how to use the gun, let you borrow one of theirs, and then you get an hour of the station to use. I'm nervous and excited!
FIVE FOR FRIDAY:
1. Name you favorite food right now? Of all time? That'd be peanut butter, and more peanut butter...
2. Give a shameless plug of your WLS surgeon: Dr. Berkemeyer - UofM. Adorable. Was a great surgeon for me. I really like him. With that said though, I could live without the teeny boppers running the program now - wish the NUT and coordinator were a little less into treating the adults like kids (most of the staff have been brought over from the children's obesity clinic). Would prefer some folks who know better how to deal with adults...
3. Crystal Light or Koolaid? Crystal Light Orange Sunrise
4. Hamburger or Hotdog? Hamburger w/mayo, catsup, dill pickles, and gooey melted cheese - maybe w/some bacon and sauteed onion & mushrooms (pre-op, of course)
5. Give an example of how you "Pay It Forward": uh, well... probably by helping others be more self-serving, demanding, and obstinate.... by example...

Good for you. I got my concealed pistol license last year. I think every woman should know how to use a gun. Don't be surprised by the amount of force it has....I guess that's always the most shocking thing for me.

Hi Edie-
do you carry your gun with you? all the time? I have such a complete lack of knowledge about guns or anything having to do with them. I don't know that I'd want to actually own one (don't know how responsble I'd be about cleaning it regularly, and having one in the house with the kids terrifies me), but I love the idea of knowing how to shoot one, and target practicing sounds pretty empowering - to me. We'll see how it goes today! :)
