Top of the morning to y'all,
Nothing is in my morning cup YET; I have to get my act together and get in my blood test this morning for the 5-week visit on Sept. 21. After that, maybe I'll have my first egg in a month's time; then I will go and renew my membership in Holland MI ('s) best: Evergreen Commons--senior citizen center ala deluxe. Have to be 50 or over. I'm in. Time for workouts and swimming and hot tub.

QOTD-Weekend report--Involved in a big gospel music jamboree on Sat, the 12th at the Chapel-in-the-Pines campground, near Hudsonville, MI, (chapelinthepinescampground.com) from noon til 9 pm. Lots of wonderful groups singing and playing. THEN, we get packed  to go on a bus trip to Louisville, KY on Monday to attend the National Quartet Convention from M-TH. (natqc.com).

FIVE FOR FRIDAY:

1. Name you favorite food right now?  Um, right now, it's probably ff refried bean with 2 TBS. of cheese sauce, + salsa from a jar. Of all time? ah, it's gotta be a wet burrito with lots of fresh salsa, onions, and sour cream.
2.  Give a shameless plug of your WLS surgeon:  DR. Gluck, in Muskegon, is wonderful, as is his whole staff; So caring, compassionae, calm, courteous, competent!
3.  Crystal Light or Koolaid?
Crystal Light...love the flavors
4.  Hamburger or Hotdog?
Hamburger, with the works;  Polish Hot Dog with the works; Hamburger, with the works;  Polish Hot Dog with the works;
Hamburger, with the works;  Polish Hot Dog with the works; Yup, that's gotta be my choice!

5.  Give an example of how you "Pay It Forward":  Always leave a good tip; leave a penny, take a penny; pay for someone behind you in line; share, share, share; encourage, encourage, encourage.

LAST, BUT NOT LEAST; SERIOUS MOMENTS OF SILENCE IN REMEMBRANCE OF 9-11, EIGHT YEARS AGO TODAY,
"WE WILL NEVER FORGET!"

Here's my F4F

FIVE FOR FRIDAY:

1. Name you favorite food right now?  Of all time?
Right now.... Arnold Thin lightly toasted w/ strawberry cream cheese and triple berry preserves

All time ... Hungry Howie pizza, double pepperoni, mushrooms and parm crust (since WLS I don't get these anymore though)

2.  Give a shameless plug of your WLS surgeon:
Dr. Farhan is a good cutter.  An outstanding bariatric and trauma surgeon.  But that's about all I know of him since I've only met him once (pre-op) and never see him at any of my post-op appointments.  Which is fine... he's a cutter and I don't need him for my after care, that's why there's a team of medical professionals at Hurley that deal with that.

3.  Crystal Light or Koolaid?
Hawaiian Punch Wild Purple Smash

4.  Hamburger or Hotdog?
Hamburger.  In fact, I had a pretty damn good burger last night from Halo Burger.  I'm afraid to look up the calorie count, but it was just the right size, just the right amount of bun (minimal),  just the right flavor and ordered with extra pickles, it was perfect.  It's the Halo Junior.

5.  Give an example of how you "Pay It Forward":
When I was first researching WLS I relied a lot on the expertise of folks here on OH and around the Internet.  I ready their stories, listened to their advice, soaked up as much information as I could and as a result have found myself in a place where I can now help those coming behind me in this journey.  So I spend lots of time here on OH helping those with what they think are "silly questions" ... or pointing folks to the scientific research on the net that will answer their questions or help them educate their own medial team on how best to care for them.  And I keep a blog of my story.  Not just the weight loss part of the story, but how I live my life and how the emotional journey is just as important as the physical journey in this WLS life.  SO because I received so much help as I was starting out, I try to pay it forward to others who are in same place I once was.

My Recipe Index is packed full of yumminess!

And an outstanding contribution you have made to all of us and our health. We can't thank you enough, nor can we re-read the information contained in your blog often enough so that it sticks in our memories and becomes a transformed way of life for us all. Thanks

I agree with Marilyn.  You are a wealth of knowledge that I depend upon.  I know if I ever have a question, I can get a straight up answer from you, or directions on where to go to find my answer.  You have definately paid it forward in my opinion.  And I thank you.

Morning all!

This morning I started off with a BSN Lean Dessert whipped vanilla with frozen strawberries.  It's alright not something I'll do every morning but I need to up my protein so I figured I'd start it off at breakfast and fini**** as a snack.

Right now I'm sipping my water trying desperately to get it all in today.

QOTD:  This weekend is my son's first football game.  It happens to be one of the later games so it will be a day we accomplish nothing or very little.  Games at 4, have to be there by 3, have to leave the house by 2 cause it's a little over 45 min to get there.

1. Name you favorite food right now?  Of all time?  Chicken in a can with a little low fat mayo, fettuccine alfredo

2.  Give a shameless plug of your WLS surgeon:  Dr. Foote, he is so laid back and very knowledgeable.  He's been a pleasure working with and sets reachable goals.

3.  Crystal Light or Koolaid?  Depends on the day but usually Crystal Light

4.  Hamburger or Hotdog?  Hotdog...I keep thinking will I ever be able to have one again...yep I will

5.  Give an example of how you "Pay It Forward":
Paying for people in line, helping people get back on their feet, encouraging them, listening and informing them.

Afternoon all,

Man it's been busy around here....I haven't been on much, works been to busy and my internet was down last night.  It's taken me 37 min's to read everything for the past 2 days, you guys have been chatty.  Gotta (oops) say, I agree w/ allot of the pet peeves/fines.  There's not much I could add to it!

Q:  I'm golfing with my Dad later this afternoon.....so I'm leaving work early on a Fri. and spending time with my Dad, so I'm a happy girl.  Tomm. night I'm going to a Gilda's fundraiser "Bras for a Cause" with some friends.  The rest of the weekend I'm just hanging out around the house.

Have a great weekend all,

Edie

FIVE FOR FRIDAY:

1. Name you favorite food right now?  Of all time?
Right now it’s a Click made with skim milk and a bit of SF Chocolate syrup.

All time ... Spinach pie, tabbouleh, baba ghanoush, and pita bread. LOVE Middle Eastern food!

2.  Give a shameless plug of your WLS surgeon:
Dr. Katz did a good job, he was wonderful on following up with me when I was hospitalized and checked on me all three times I was back in the hospital for complications. Honestly, he’s great. I really am glad I picked him as my surgeon and his team at St. John Weight Loss is pretty good too (but nothing like him!) He makes me feel comfortable and has from the beginning (and I came into the consult with a 3 page list of questions!)

http://www.stjohnweightloss.org

3.  Crystal Light or Koolaid?
neither, Vitamin Water 10 in multi-v flavor :)

4.  Hamburger or Hotdog?
Mmmm…soy dog! I don’t eat meat, but I love some soy dogs and fake chicken nuggets.

5.  Give an example of how you "Pay It Forward":
I have my teaching license (but can’t get a job teaching to save my life right now since the economy is so awful) so I volunteer once a week and tutor kids at a GED program near me. I love doing it and I really feel that the passion I have for helping and the profession comes through. I look forward to going, and sharing the new energy and focus I have after my WLS with others.

I buy the spinach pie (Spanakopita) frozen at Costco and the Hummus there too.  You can work it in to your diet.  The serving size is two pieces and it's enough.  140 cals 4 proteins.  Hummus is 40 cal for 2 Tbls and 1 protein.  You can also find pita bread that has 6 protein so you can work it into your program.  I love all that stuff too.  A lady that worked with my husband taught me how to make stuffed grape leaves.  They're soooo yummy too.
It is what it is.
