Good Morning y'all in Michigan!
What's waking you up in your mug?
Waking up with my weight control oatmeal followed (in 30 minutes-you know those rules) by decaf black!!!!
I loved the posts yesterday by everyone and how they would fine themselves or their family.....
We can take it one step further
QOTD-What would you fine the public for that's not currently a law or fine? I would fine someone who would always interject the phrase "you know" in a conversation. When my kids would do it I would say "no, I don't know" and they would stop...... My other fine would be gum cracking and snapping. That really gets under my skin.
Ellen Degeneres as a judge on American Idol???
Have a Thursday to remember!!

Good mornin to one and all from cloudy Tulip Time city,
Today, I am trying something new in my coffee mug; Yesterday I mad a gallon of the "Twisted Cherry" protein powder. So, today I took  12 oz of that, heated it up, and then added a packet of sf hot choc powder (could be protein hot choc. or store brand); I added a couple TBS. of fat-free half and half......mmmm; 18g protein as is, or if you add protein hot choc, it would be about 33g.

it really is pretty good...kind of like a chocolate covered cherry+cream. I got that Idea from Pam Tremble's blog (Google pam tremble to find it)

QOTD--I would fine those who forget to put their headlights on during early am, dusk, or bad weather!

have a great day! Life is great and gettin better. (39 lbs. down)

QOTD--I would fine those who forget to put their headlights on during early am, dusk, or bad weather!

I'm guilty of this.  My last vehicle (Chevy Tracker) had automatic lights and they were just on all the time with no way to shut them off besides turning the car off.  But now my new car (Honda Civic) requires me to physically turn my headlights on.  So after driving with auto lights for 9 years, it's tough to get back into the habit.

I agree with Jani.

Will the next automobile you purchase be the Saudi Arabian Camel?
Japan bombed this country and now so many buy their crap
So now will the the next auto maker come from the desert?

Yep, my grandfather was a GM retiree too.  But he understood why I made the decision to buy a Honda.  It was built in Ohio by American men and women.... and it was a used car, so te*****ally it was an American product by the time I got my hands on it.

Ok, technically you're right.  I just have this thing about buying American.  In view of our economy I just like the idea of keeping our people working.  I do know thaat the foreign companies do employ Americans in this country, but ultimately the profits go back to their country.  We need to keep as much here in the states as we can.  I didn't mean to be condisending at all.  U know I'm a nice person, right?????  Sorry if I offended you.

No, you didn't offend me at all.  and I completely understand about buying American - and local (which is why I love Farmers Markets and Yard Sales so much!).  It was a pretty tough decision for me to buy a Honda and when I showed my car to my grandfather I was afraid of his disapproval (which I didn't get, actually).

I just know that our economy is changing - a lot - and "buying American" might mean something different these days.  I mean... the Big Three have factories overseas and sell cars to foreigners, just like foreign carmakers have factories here in America and sell to us.  So GM profits from Japan come back here eventually... just like  Honda profits from America go back to Japan eventually.  So it balances out in the end, I think.  Plus, when I said that my Honda was an American commody, I really believe that.  It was used, so the money stayed in Bay City, Michigan where I purchased it from a family-owned dealership.

I live in Michigan.  So I understand the taboo of buying a foreign car.  My best friend in Nashville just doesn't understand it.  He thinks it's strange that we have that type of attitude here in Michigan about which car we're allowed to buy or not.  But I understand it and respect it.

Of course, uur economy is becoming more global, money doesn't seem to have borders like it used to.  It's a fine line we walk between only buying American goods and using global trade partners to boost the American economy.  I recently learned that for every dollar we spend in foreign trade activities, that we actually increase the American economy by about $1.30.  So this whole global economy thing can't be all bad, right?  I'm not saying we should all go out and buy only foreign made goods, but I also think it's difficult to live our lives without dipping our toes into the foreign market too.  We just need to find the balance between buying American and all the rest ...

I'm definitely not the type of person to get into a political debate (for someone who works in government, I don't know anyone who hates politics more than I do LOL).  So this isn't meant in that way.  Just wanted to share my side too...
