I was approved for my RNY in less than 48 hours with Cigna!  I'm doing the happy dance of course!  I do have a couple questions though for anybody who has used St. John.  Dr. Kole is my surgeon and my surgery is Oct. 5th!

1) Does anybody know the specifics of their particular post-op diet, such as how long each stage is and what foods are okt?  You know, clear liquids stage, pureed, solids, etc...?  My pre-op "class" is only a week before my surgery and I would like to have my kitchen cupboards ready.  They told me I would have plenty of time to study their diet, but I don't think a week is quite long enough.

2) How long was your stay in the hospital?

I am trying to make sure I have all of my t's crossed and i's dotted.  I know this board is super slow, so if I don't get an answer here i'll throw it on the main RNY board, but i'll try here first!

You may want to go to this site and get this book and read it
It has a lot of useful information for you
about nutritian, vitamins and everything you need to know about WLS.
I don't know your DR or Hospital team but It sounds to me from most of the folks here on OH the post op is about the same.

You can also get WLS for dummies too.

 Congrats!
Dr. Kole assisted in my surgery and is now my primary follow-up doc.  He's a great guy and you're in really good hands there.
When I first had my surgery done the office seemed to be going through some rough changes but the staff they have now are great.
To answer your questions:
1)  Trying to remember (it was 2 years ago for me) the first couple of days (2-3) was clear liquids and the next 4 days or so progressed to liquid/creamed foods.    I was on puree foods for probably about 2-3 weeks before moving to solids.  The dieticians are great there and they will give you easy to read/understand charts with what you can/should have.  They were very quick to call me back when I had questions.
2)  I was in the hospital just the 1 night.  You will be seen by the doctors and a nurse from the clinic (probably Rhea) the day of the surgery and the following morning.  Providing all is well you'll probably be discharged by noon the next day.
We heal better at home so they're going to try to get you home as quickly as you're ready for it.
My last couple of follow up appointments have been really good through their office and I really respect and think a lot of Dr. Kole.
